13 things to know when starting Assassin's Creed Odyssey

So, I am gonna focus on the Assassin tree. And in theory, I'd be the worst soldier during the war sequence. What the hell is wrong with this game...

Oh, speaking of what's wrong: Level scaling and restriction is beyond the worst thing that ever existed in this game. In most games, killing enemies above your level could be done without severe penalties. In this game, you are guaranteed to fail if your equipments are not adequate.

It's just the power of levels in this game is insane. Not sure if that's a good thing.

Also, pro tip: When fighting Mercenaries, NEVER kill them! Beat them all the way down to the last sliver of life, then hit them with a paralyzing arrow and recruit them to the ship! You still get the Gear and Drachmae and ship full of mercenaries is UNBEATABLE lol. You’re welcome newbies ✊🏾

I'm playing this game on my Xbox. The commentator says that there will be no shortage of money. I'm constantly searching for money, only to find that I get pennies instead of a windfall. I'm getting the hang of things. But I want to level up my gear, only to find that I never have enough resources. By the time I get enough resources, I've leveled up, and I can't afford to level up the gear. And there's no way to level the gear up to the nearest lower level. The character leveling up is really overpowered compared to getting the resources. An example of this is that I was trying to level up my spear to level 15, and by the time that I got enough resources, my character is level 18, and now I don't have enough resources. It is a real pain in the neck. So, the commentator is wrong, or the game is completely different on the Playstation compared to the Xbox, which is unlikely. But who knows, not me. The leveling system is a major pain, I saw this in Origin, but this is worse. Also, their is a decent delay between the game, recognizing my attacks, but the enemy has no problem landing every hit immediately. So, my skills of playing this game are never in question, I know what I'm doing. It's just that game doesn't. This doesn't add to the difficultly, it's unfair. So, if you feel like you're messing up, you're not, believe me. Also, don't get into any fights on or near a road. The game constantly spawns new enemies to join the battle that you're already fighting. In one battle, I had to face three enemies, I ended up fighting and defeating ten, and the original three killed me. The hand to hand battles are extremely unfair, maybe even broken. It also doesn't matter if you are fighting the Spartans, Athenians will show up to finish you off. They will not be helping you.

I do love this game but I don't like that you can't track your quests on the quest board like you can on Valhalla. Can anyone tell me if you can do that?

Just remember, when first starting out you will not have full access to everytjing on the map. Like you start out on one Island, then you gain access to more areas of map after so many missions. Now you can explore other areas of the map, but your character may be too low to play in that area. Yes tge map is huge, and not mention there is 4 other maps/worlds you can play on besides the greece map.

I'm new to AC creed and started this amazing game but to my amazement there is no roman AC ??? How could you not make a game like this and not include the roman empire?? The potential is lost!! Seriously, or even a WW1 themed AC, so much you could do, come on ubisoft take the thumb out!!

I genuinely hated this game at first because Origins was SOOOOOO good.

But…. After playing this again and giving it another shot I do thoroughly enjoy this! The only down side is the map is SOOOOO friggin big and fast travel spots are so few. Lol.

I beat the whole game using a dagger I kept upgrading (and later one purchasing a legendary one you find during one of the quests), I tried all kinds of weapons (I have over 160 hours on the game) but this one is just a perfect fit tbh. I highly recommend.

Also, during some attacks on ship, if you are tired of those, you can park your ship not so far away from the boat you are attacking (it can't spot you, othervise it wont work) and then just slaughter everyone on the boad (they are super weak), then destroy the boat using yours. It saves so much time lmao.

Dont be blind like I was and when killing off the cultists and other op mfs, click on them and see their abilities (some can poison you, some use fire, some go feral when on low hp) so you can be prepared somehow.

No sword sponges or arrow sponges . Some enemies are like this. If not all enemies are sponges. I enjoyed playing this game over a year ago and I will enjoy playing it again.

Ehhh muppet... it's not CALLED legendary sword, it's A legendary sword, meaning of legendary tier rarity. The name of the item is Nikolaos' Sword, cryptically named almost suspiciously close to the man you get it from. It's not the only item with these superbuffs, and you can engrave the abilities of many of them, onto eachother.

I learn fast so I don't need this but it's refreshing because as I learn fast I never realize how much I learned automatically or semi automatically

Watching this 4 years after it came out but currently playing through for the first time, and that line about bounty hunters showing up at the worst time is 100% accurate. I had a bounty when I entered a battlefield to fight for Sparta. Some guy comes out of nowhere, not dressed as an Athenian, or a spartan, and starts wailing into me. I kill him, only to later find out it was a damn bounty hunter that jumped into the fray just to kill me.

I think that's the moment that hooked me on this game.

One thing that could have been added is for people who struggle with the leveling system could have included a fast way to level up

none of your gear really matters - the game gives you 2 armors sets and a bunch of useless other weapons. They all trump, all the purple gear. Making the stuff useless. I bought the harvester of time, with the 200 helix credits - useless ! a waste! don't even use it the 2 legendary weapons are stronger. Wish i used the 200 for the bighorn bow. apparently that's good. cant even get stories in my log. Made an account, downloaded the story, or added it. Got nothing but asked to log in and log in and log in. My whole experience is walking on walls from athens to patri, got nothing to show for it and still need to upgrade my gold gear again and again. Run out of resource and have to wall run manually and load again and again. grrrrrrr.
