Dear Mr. Sutton, I may have commented on this song prior to this date...While growing up in Wisconsin, this piece, Serenata, was amongst one of my father's favorites...I'll never tire, hearing it. I just realized that your posts are quite diversified, with all of the immensely interesting Russian videos of yours. My father as a young boy, along with his parents and two sisters, arrived at Ellis Island, in approx. 1904, and grew up in Brooklyn, on Eastern Parkway. I Thank You Sir, for your Priceless Contribution in posting quality videos. ⚘♥️
Thanks for the memories….💝
Always reminds me of the BBC radio program “ Two Way Family Favourites “ in the 50’s . Often was requested to play from either Germany or the U.K. RIP Cliff and Jean. ( Those who remember will know who I mean.
I remember this song from my youth. The photos of New York in the 30s & 40s are a wonderful glimpse into the past.
Superb!! I recommended Gustavo Dudamel conduct his 2024 2025 holiday show with Leroy's 4 greatest hits including Seranata and finished with Sleighride
A wonderful match: the „Serenata“ and old pictures of New York!
Ответитьawesome
Sounds like the score of an old romantic Hollywood movie.
That is truly beautiful, and stunning visuals ! Tony , Essex.
I love the photos, of the same era as this expansive and optimistic piece, when America was bright, shiny, the centre of civilization, and envied by all. Not something to be pitied, mourned and feared for as it is now, with stunted clones of Hitler's inner sanctum multiplying like covid viruses inside an aware but helpless host.
This is absolutely stunning. I watch it over and over.
Ответитьgreatfull🫰🏻💞
Ah back when architects designed more than copycat glass and steel boxes.
I grew up listening to Leroy Anderson's music on the radio back around 1950.
Wow. Caterina Valent did it justice. A master.
Listen to Sarah Vaughan sing this song. It's the best!
Mindblowing ❣👍🏻
No more uplifting music ever written. My band played this magnificent piece!
Going back to the 40s and 50s, my parents had quite a variety of music genres in our family collection, and although I never learned its' name, the melody has been on my mind since then. It happened to be on a '45', and just last week, by chance, I 'clicked' onto this, and couldn't believe my ears...one of my father's favorites, and mine as well, brought back many fond memories of my childhood. My only curiosity is this: Is there some kind of significance, as to the connection of this lovely music piece, and the skyline of New York City? Please forgive my naivety, and Thank You so much!
In 1952 Leroy Anderson had one hit after another.he filled the airways.
Superb video to go with the inimitable Leroy Anderson.
These images work so well with this music! Why? I don't know, they just do!
When NYC had heavy and light industries and downtown neighborhoods like Jamaica and Flushing in the borough of Queens, NYC.
New York City. My kind of Town.
Give me that intro and I feel like James Bond
Great recording of a pop super-classic. Joy!
A beautiful piece!.John Guinto

That main theme I just cant seem to get enough of!
I consider this Serenata the most profound and romantic among all works by Anderson. It definitely should be performed more frequently. Many thanks for the accompanying nostalgic photos of Manhattan in her golden glorious bygone days which match the music perfectly.
I have had a lot of fun with Anderson's piano concerto. This is a delightful vignette. That aside, I suspect the composer didn't have these nostalgic Americana scenes in mind when he wrote this. It sounds quite Spanish, down to the castanets, especially when it shifts into the minor key.
Oh, yes, the coda is ALL American!
Does anyone know what that huge structure with Welcome Home sign was?
Ответитьall y’all are probably in your elder ages, I’m just 10, I am tryna find that Serenata song I like from our strings class book. No offense at all, by the way! This is beautiful, too. I loved the Serenata song we played in there.
I'm 81 & this brings me back to my childhood also.
Every time I saw a beautiful girl, when I was much younger, this theme would go off inside my head. Of course, it didn't mean I got a new girlfriend, but at least hearing this romantic serenata made me feel better throughout the rest of the day.
Absolutely Beautiful
