I was a Police Officer when this program was screened. We were trained (to a very low level) about our duties should there be a war, suffice it to say the response was as much use as a chocolate teapot, but it would have involved being apart from my family at this time.
I was sitting on the sofa nursing my newly born son watching this, it was not pleasant, in that moment I became very anti-war and still am.
This was possibly the most influential program on TV that I have even seen, its a pity Putin, Kim Jong Un and other leaders who have control of these weapons cant see it, perhaps it might make them think, or maybe not?
OMG this so scary, probably the most frightening movie ever made 😢
ОтветитьThis is scarier than any horror film, hope this isn't programmed same usual to blame Russia .
ОтветитьHow real does this seem in today's modern world, very scary to even think it's coming but when tho.
ОтветитьThe sound of the siren has always remained with me. I'd rather not be warned.
ОтветитьIn 1962, this movie almost became reality
ОтветитьI'm so used to this being a possibility, I am genuinely not scared of it any longer. I'll just go outside wherever I am and wait. I'm sick to death of being scared.
ОтветитьThere are so many details in every shot of this movie, I feel like I need to rewatch it, not happy about that fact
Ответить"Threads" is the scariest horror movie that I have ever seen.
Ответитьthe blinding light is the gamma part of being vapourized i imagine
Ответитьpull the ariel out
ОтветитьFlash foward to today.
Ответитьback before the internet and smartphones before mass imigration i can remember those times
Ответитьanyone with half a brain needs to watch this again now
ОтветитьThe silence screams horror.....
ОтветитьWhy would the UK be nuked? For being an ally of the US?
I don't think y'all would ever be a problem... We sold our planet out.
I watched this in 2005. It is entirely devoid of hope in a gruesomely fascinating way, but you will have nightmares.
ОтветитьYou know, I truly do think that Humanity is quite likely going to eventually do this to itself at some point or another. Things were different in the Cold War because, at that time, only two or three countries had viable nuclear arsenals. Today, many countries do and some have pretty unstable political systems/leadership which worries me sometimes. Today's international rhetoric and nationalistic posturing has also gotten way more aggressive, not to mention the staggering amount of hubris we all are guilty of, including myself. Eventually, this is going to happen. It could happen next week, it could happen 100 years from now but humans have made these weapons with intent. After all, one does not buy a weapon unless one intends to use it at some point, even if it's just target practice.
Me, I would rather not live through a full-scale nuclear war (or even a limited strike). The struggle for survival is going to be utterly brutal and primitive. Billions will die from radiation sickness, warlords, fights over resources and food, illnesses no longer treatable with medications no longer made or distributed, and starvation as the strong take the resources for themselves. It'll be ugly. Thankfully, I don't have to worry about it since I live right next to the nuclear warhead storage site for the Navy's nuclear "boomer" subs. Where I live is ringed in high-profile military bases so we'll be a nice fat target in the first waves. This pleases me for some weird reason, I guess because I know I won't have to die slowly from illness and starvation.
2016 no one sane thought of war 2023 we are all scared hmmmm??? Wonder what changed ?
ОтветитьThis always comes to mind when Russian officials and state media pundits casually call for nukes to be used against Ukraine. With a crass and snarky tone, they want to recreate 'Threads' in real life..
Ответитьthink we need to modernize this film in the current situation that we are in now, yeah the message will be in it, an lgtbq and them parties, but it all change after the russia and us will exchange nukes with one another
ОтветитьIs at this point in time when tje Jew would stop counting his money.
ОтветитьHORRIBLE
ОтветитьI remember the "shelter drills" we did in school in the mid '60s. Lean against the wall with your hands on your neck. As if that would really do anything. They might as well have told us just kiss your a** goodbye.
ОтветитьMark the spot of the burial there will be officials coming around in about 100000000000 years when life has begun all over again. What really is the point in them officials taking data down on maps and stuff, really is no point to it, but I did hear that there will be people who will go around the prisons killing all the survivors in the jails.
ОтветитьComing soon…………..”Threads,The Musical”
ОтветитьWorld War 3 can be so much fun if you Protect and Survive.
ОтветитьMovies Video Super 😊😊😊😊😮😮😮😮 .
ОтветитьThere was a similar TV movie in the US at around the same time. So much stupid hysteria because nukes were being installed in Western Europe to deter any possible Soviet aggression.
ОтветитьThe local government shelters were as useless as those make shift ones were in drama.
ОтветитьThe supermarket scene looked identical to trying to get food when COVID kicked off, greed, selfish, me me me attitude, saw an old woman get pushed out of the way, I went to her aid and told the fella it was bang out of order and he gave me a right mouth full of blah blah blah and at that moment I saw the actual fabric of order and civilisation break down like I suspect it would if Threads happened.....
ОтветитьI wish Putin would watch this. Apparently Reagan changed his views of nuclear war after he saw 'The Day After.'
ОтветитьWhy should we, Iranians, always hit by others in world wars? It was so sad for me that even in fictional stories, Iran must be hit or invaded.
ОтветитьStill chilling after all these years
ОтветитьThreads
ОтветитьWould never put it past Israel!
ОтветитьOne of the darkest movies I've ever seen. From start to finish this thing is brutal.
ОтветитьI remember this. Wasn’t Britain so different. Soup 20p
ОтветитьAnd here we are 40 years later on the brink of WW3, we've learned nothing except ever more sinister ways to kill eachother, sad it really is.
Ответитьyou will be safe if you live in a city that is 40-60 miles away from a major city that is a target. Stay out of the down wind fallout and you are safe. expect to see LOTS of burn victims to enter your city.
ОтветитьIt makes one wonder about the validity of people claiming that the US government has been building DUMBS (Deep Underground Military Bases) for decades supposedly linked by superfast underground railways. I've also read about seed vaults, plant vaults, and huge stores all stockpiled for these bases.
If the rumors are true, then the elites expect some catastrophic event to happen be it nuclear war, asteroid, sunflares, or Yellowstone supervolcano. It paints a bleak picture where theres no point in trying to survive just to live in a wasteland of feuding warlords.
This was brilliant and a good warning. Best place to be in a nuclear attack is right under the explosion. You wouldn't want to survive a nuclear war.
ОтветитьI saw this at a friend's house, when I left to go home, I genuinely thought I would be stepping into a wasteland.
ОтветитьTime Index 36 seconds..... Nice to see that over the years nothing has changed,, morons out shopping again, and those threating to blow us all to kingdom come.. MORONS... FROM THE TOP TO THE BOTTOM.
AND YOUR NOT GOING TO OUT RUN A bomb BY GOING TO Wales, or anywhere else.. You're not better off in your own home, because if one lands within 60 miles of you you're dead. And trust me there will be one for every city, so you're dead.. Unless you have a sun factor cream of at least 1 million, you're going to get a proper tan..
But then again if one lands on us, we will know of it before it lands, and the other side can expect 10 back in reply.. So no one wins..
