I'm getting confused. I thought others reported that risk of a-fib increased with omega 3 supplements. If you then went on to later have a heart attack the omega 3's were protective.

I think too much emphasis has been put on cholesterol and the meds prescribed!! I'm 72 and carnivore, but I include sardines, which is a great, quick meal or snack, and mackerel, and love to fix salmon!! My chronic pain and inflammation is minimal now!! Thanks for sharing!! ❤🤗🙏🙏

I'm glad you mentioned about the low conversion of ALA to EPA/DHA... I have vegan friends that think that they're getting enough in their diets among other things like B12 and the active forms of fat soluble vitamins like A. But this isn't news about Omega-3's and heart health. The diet advice had 100g of Oreo cookies healthier than 100g of salmon because of the high-fat in salmon and they knew that couldn't be right... so slowly the advice is starting to align with what was known for decades.

Just complete a 2 day sardine fast. Nothing but King Oscar sardines in extra virgin olive oil.. Drank only water and soda water.. I feel great. my blood pressure went down from 130\80 to 120\72. Lost 3.5 lbs. as well. I had 8 cans of sardines which is 17,600 mg of Omega-3 fatty acids.

Is that normal to be drawing blood from someone in cardiac arrest while in an ambulance ? I thought they would be doing much more useful things like defibrillating the heart.

I can't find anything about triglyceride preparation for omega-3 supplements. It's not mentioned on the brand I take or on the supposed top 5 brands on the internet.

Dr Bos, this is my second time doing a sardine fast for 3 days. I do the 3-day sardine fast and then go as long as I can water fasting up to 5 days. A few months ago I was diagnosed with AFib caused by sleep apnea/high BP not being treated for 3 years, due to recalled CPAP and COVID (I was afraid to get a sleep study then). I always feel fantastic on the sardine fast I mean really really great. The discovery I made this time is I didn't go into AFib by day two. Now I'm on the lookout for a good supplement of omega-3s triglyceride. Thanks for the information, I think it's going to be a big life changer for my heart health.

Seed oils are using high temperature and adding chemicals. Peanut, corn oil, canola oil, vegetable oil are all toxic. The Canadian government paid the FDA $50 million to get canola oil listed by the FDA as safe.

How about getting Omega-3 through supplements pills.? I take one 500 mg softgel of 100% pure Antarctic Krill Oil providing Omega-3 fatty acids 106 mg:: EPA 63 mg & DHA 29 mg
~Phospholipids 225 mg & Astaxathin 43 mcg
~The doctor did not mention Krill Oil, is this any good.? Are Fish Oil softgels good to take.?

Lumping monounsaturated fat in with trans fat in the multivariate model 2 doesn’t make any sense, unless they weighted trans fats to be more dangerous.

Just completed my first 72hrs sardine fast … heres my recipe, drain the oil/water from the can, add apple cider vinegar, electrolyte salt, black pepper, few drops of light balsamic vinegar and plenty of VOO … heat in air fryer at 200c for 5 minutes … 9 cans over 3 days never felt hungry once, will check my keytones tomorrow – now love sardines!

If you don’t love the taste of sardines and the idea of eating them 3 days is not attractive to you, I suggest:

Use a combination (alternate as you like) of canned Smoked Sardines in olive oil, canned smoked Cole’s Mackerel in olive oil, canned smoked Cole’s trout in olive oil, and wild caught salmon (in smaller quantities because it’s a larger fish)- whole foods wild caught smoked salmon is great- add some good extra virgin organic olive oil if you choose.

I personally would keep the total amount of wild Salmon to 2 ounces daily on a 72 hour sardines fast, but have as much as you like of the others. Easy to keep protein & fat in a good high range (of choice- I like to hit 120 grams protein for the day), and get lot’s of healthy omegas.

I like to mash the canned fish with the olive oil in it (or drain and add your own) and then add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and a little high quality real salt. The vinegar (or lemon juice- does the same) cuts through the yucky flavor & smell and I think it tastes good. No need to cook it or add anything else, for myself. If I want a higher ration of fat for the day, I just add a little MCT or EVOO. Easy, peasy.

Be sure to get cans with really good expiration dates to make sure the oil (and fish) is nice and fresh.

I had a heart attack May 3 of this year. I survived in spite of being a very insulin resistant diabetic. I have eaten a strict low carb, high nutrition diet for four years and my A1C is at 5.8. I take high quality omega 3 fatty acids because I can not eat seafood. I can’t stand any of it! My doctor said I survived because of my diet, the fact I am in shape and have controlled my glucose. It is not easy, but anyone can do this! I have no damage to my heart and walked 5 miles of hills yesterday.

Crisco was originally made by the germans before WW2 as a lubricant for tanks. Proctor and Gamble bought the formula/patent and gave it the delicious name Crisco and sold it as a cheap healthy replacement for lard. The FDA, drug companies, and food companies are corrupt from top to bottom. The amount of money they have thrown at prominent doctors and research scientist to go along with their lies puts the tobacco companies to shame. Do some research if you think Im wrong. Look at the grocery store shelves and EVERYTHING is processed and has at least 20 ingredients including sugar and they call it heart healthy. Thats a blatant lie. If we were supposed to have a sugar based diet why does our body have such an intense defense mechanism (insulin) to get it out of the blood stream ASAP!!

Dr. Boz thank you for the inspiration. My Omega 3 went up dramatically after adopting Sardines as a part of my Keto nutrition. I used the kit to measure it and than validated it with a Dr prescribed Lab test.
What are your thoughts about 3 meals a week Keto lifestyle? Yes, this is not a mistake - 3 meals a week: Saturday meal -> 3 days of fasting -> Wednsday meal -> 3 days of fasting -> Friday meal - Sat meal - REPEAT

I just listened to Keto Camp and he said DHA/EPA suppliments are worthless and do no good for us because they are not regulated and full of toxins and metals. Ugh!! Everyday it's back and fourth but, your A Dr and I trust you more. Thanks for sharing. Guess gotta start eating sardines with my eyes closed. Lol
