How to Use Samsung Secure Folder - Everything You Need to Know!

FYI guys, Samsung Secure Folder is available in select Galaxy M devices, Galaxy F devices, Galaxy A devices and in all flagship models like the S series, Note series and Fold Series! Hope you guys enjoy the video and find it useful.

I you delete a picture or videos in the secure folder will the deleted photo or video will go back to the regular gallery or will it be permanently deleted?

This video is 8 minutes long so I didn't watch the hole thing but what I recently found out is secure folder doesn't always hide things. So I have pictures on my SD card and I moved them to secure folder in my gallery but if I went into the files app and clicked on my SD card I could still see those pictures. If your pictures are in your internal storage when you move them to secure folder then you won't be able to see them in the files app

whatsapp notifications are not active most of the time in secure folder..

I think Secure folder is kind of a sandbox, which can also be used to launch suspicious apps, or data hungry apps (e.g. Facebook)? Anyone know anything about it?

Secure folder is a really cool feature. However, it shows a preview of your content in the recent apps. How do you change that? A video on that would be a game changer 😮

Thank you. Even when I went to look for a way to make certain files and folders private a few years ago, I didn't find this feature. But I did find that you could rename a folder starting with a "." or period and this made it a hidden folder. Then you could hide or show hidden folders, rename without the dot and open the folder. Then rename with the dot up front and back to private/hidden.

Some fairly recent update now forbids the user to start a file name with a dot. Secure folder will make it much easier to make and access a private folder.

What would also be helpful is to be able to turn off preview on specific files or at least folders. Even in the secure folder it shows a cover image of one of the images (in gallery). I do see where you can change the cover image, but if all the images in the folder are sensitive, It looks like I would need to add a benign image for a cover. Problem is, that benign image would now become part of a slideshow.

Can create a two secure folder

I use secure folder to hide my social media, photos, videos, apps. I actually hide my secure folder entirely by removing it from the notification panel, hiding from my home screen by going to home screen settings and hiding it. How I gain access to it, is I go into settings, scroll down to advanced labs and then from there I select side key, then press the settings gear and then select secure folder. So now when I double press my power key it takes me straight to secure folder without it being visible anywhere on my phone

What if i want to unlock an app? I have to uninstall it from secure folder and install a frech copy all over again which risks to lose data. Very dumb move from Samsung. Why not just embed an app locker just like app lockers in other phones (Xiaomi and OnePlus)?

It's an amazing app however, lost everything in secure folder after formatting the phone. Seems it is not backed by default.

Question.....how to rearrange order within a folder. I can highlight what I want to move out but I can't move it up or down/reorder. "Move Here" at the bottom of the page is grayed out. My intention is to keep the front of my credit cards next to the back. Maybe it's an update waiting to happen?? Thank you for your help 🙂

I appreciate this video. I learned quite a bit. But it's not really "everything" I need to know. There are still a couple of concerns. For example, is the data in the Secure Folder encrypted? If it is only password or pin protected, 3rd party software can still see the unencrypted data.
You said your technique of changing the folder name makes it "completely" untraceable and nobody would know that you have a Secure Folder, even if they know about the Secure Folder feature. Not true. So, you've setup Secure Folder on your device. If a person has access to your phone and goes into your security settings, as if they were going to set up the Secure Folder, the system will prompt them for the unlock method (pin, biometrics, whatever the owner setup), a dead give-a-way that Secure Folder is already setup on the device.
If you go into My Files and scroll to the bottom and click Analyze Storage, if a Secure Folder has been previously setup on the device, you will be prompted to decide if the Secure Folder should be included in the analysis.
Finally, a word about blocking Notifications in the Secure Folder. If Secure Folder Notifications is turned off and you restart the phone, you will get a notification that tells you Notifications in the Secure Folder is off and "remind" you to turn it on if you want notifications. How silly is that?
IMO, these are absolutely crazy. If I want a Secure Folder, it is to keep prying eyes away from my stuff. The 3 things I've mentioned above is like keeping my safe on my front porch for everyone to see. Yes, they cannot access it without the combination, but why would I want to draw attention to the safe by leaving it on the front porch? Is there a workaround that you know of for each of the issues I've presented?

UPDATE to the problem below:
Ok figured out my problem but no solution.. The reason I am not getting the "Mover to Secure Folder" in the three dot drop down options is because on my Samsung A54 my photos are in Google Photos not Samsung's Gallery! So it seems all photos have to be on the Samsung Gallery app for Samsung Secure Folder to work... makes total sense... So the Locked Folder option Ive been seeing when selecting the photo in my attempt to move is the Google version of Samsungs Secure folder... got it... Well now this begs the question: Is there a way to mover photos or albums from Google Photos to Samsungs Gallery to use the Secure Folder feature?

PROBLEM.. great video, exactly what I am looking to do to secure my photos and other date.. I have a brand new Samsung A54, I have set up my Samsung Secure Folder.. but when I go into my gallery to select the photos I want to move to the Secure Folder... I DO NOT have a three dot "More" drop down menu option?? When I select the photo I want to move I have the following options in bottom tool bar: Share, Add to, Delete, Move to Archive, Delete from device, Edit Date & time, Edit location, Move to Locked folder... I tried the Move to lock folder option but it did not take me to the created Secure Folder.. so I am not finding a way to send the selected photo or item to the Secure folder...

Second question is I would ultimately like to send and entire album or albums to the Secure Folder (once I figure out how to do that).. can full albums be moved to the Secure Folder or can it be only move individual photos one at a time to then recreate the album in the Secure Folder app??
