Thank you for the information regarding All Hallows by the Tower. I have tried in the past to go in as my grandfather’s and grandmother’s ashes are somewhere in the crypt as he was a member of Toc H in WW I. All Hallows by the Tower was the church associated with Toc H and “Tubby Clayton “ , the priest who founded Toc H.

A lovely short walk John. I would suggest that anyone wanting to see inside these wonderful churches visits the City during the week, when they are open for the working population. Not enough customers at weekends.

I used to live in Wapping and sometimes on a Sunday as long it wasn't raining or windy I walked into the city and spent a few hours wandering around keeping away from the busy tourist areas.
All the modern ugly buildings that have been allowed have spoiled the historic views.
In Central Munich they have strict rules about what building is allowed. They are not allowed to build anything that spoils the historic skyline so Tower block offices etc are built outside the centre.

Hi John. Shame you couldn't visit the Ship Inn. I played darts there in the upstairs room a couple of years ago. To avoid spillage on the winding narrow staircase, any pints for upstairs are conveyed from the ground floor bar via a "dumb waiter" (mini lift) to the upper room where they arrive intact - no a drop wasted !
You must visit - after church maybe ?

Hmm, a synagogue has been added to the map . . . His Majesty's call for the dignity of all faiths starts taking hold. Any chapels (my own faith being Unitarian)? Any mention of Elizabethan upstarts like the attractively named House of Love? Mosques? Bahai? Any number of options, which someday will have become just as historic to our descendants as these now are to us.

A taxi driver told me there are no 'roads' in the City of London - all ordinary thorougfares are 'streets'. This back to Roman times. And the only time you can legally drive on the right in London is at the entrance to the Savoy hotel in the Strand. So that one might drive in and around to the entrance of the Savoy and disembark.

Great video and reminds me of my commute to work for years in the 2010's I would walk to/from Fenchurch Street station to offices near Borough station and felt like I would always discover something new by taking a different turning. You were so close to St Dunstan's of East churchyard which I expected you to go to unless it was already covered in another video? The Ship pub I rarely ever seen open but the Cafe in Star Alley make some of the best sandwiches in London. Also the building opposite the church/across the road was Mark Lane Underground station.

St Olaves on Seething Lane is the resting place of Samuel Pepys. Also the graveyard is at a higher level to the church due to the amount of burials during the plague. The gates are really cool also. Lovely video as usual

I live in Aldgate, so very much enjoyed this one. I remember visiting the vicar at Saint Botolph Without in the late nineties - he described himself as an 'urban theologian' - I don't know if that was your red flag vicar?
St Olave often has music concerts during the week at lunchtime, The Ship Pub is very like the city was 20 years ago.
You were so close to 'French Ordinary Court' - did you spy it (Do you know it?) I'd put it in the top 5 of London Alleyways.
And - I'm not sure you have yet featured 'St Dunstan in the East' - surely the most magical place (or at least it was until insta found out about it a few years ago)
btw I went to City Poly as well.
Thanks for all the vids
