Hi, great tool this. Just one question if you need the debits to also look at the income because you may have paid out something and then you get a credit against it how do you change the formula for this. Tried a couple of ways and I get an error. Thanks

Thank you for this. I have been trying to figure out a much better method than what I had been using.

This is a good start for anyone that wants a simple dashboard. You can add an budget planner table/tab and have values linked to the correct portion, then can make it so you can select and sort each expense. It's easier to have a set number of rows, or you can do a header with two rows min (paychecks) then have a formula that dynamically alters the table. That can get complicated though.

Imagine spending 2 hours following the 2 videos, pulling out all your transactional data, going step by step, only to add the year column at the very end and it ruins it! Why add a brand new column to the data as a last step??! And no, deleting the Year column didn’t fix it.

Excellent explanation and very useful. I have a question, though: how can I change the income/expense budget amounts from one month without altering the same in the following/previous months?

Thanks for the video. This has been great. I am having a problem with my amount for income and expenses not showing up in the month of February. I can see all other months' income and expense but not in February. I've checked the formula to make sure that everything checks out. Anyone else having this problem?

In Onedrive Excel, Conditional Formatting doesn't have the option to edit as showed on your example. Do you have another tips where I can edit as your example? Thanks

Thank you so much for this tutorial! I had a budget tracker that did the job and worked okay and wanted to have a dashboard. I looked around to by a premade one but opted to create my own, so I could personalize it. This video helped me do just that AND taught me something new at the same time!!!

Question: Can I upload this Dashboard on Google Sheets? When I tried to upload I got an error saying the workbook is too large (not sure if I am doing something wrong.) I would love to share this dashboard on my phone so I can add expenses on the go?

This works great, it took me a few hours and several mistakes, but I was able to build this spreadsheet and it works great. I like the Month to Date feature which matches what I like to track in my budget at a glance. It does not appear to be a feature on your extended template.

The spreadsheet takes so much time to load, do you have any tips on that?

if you add balance forecasting you'll basically have ms money, which everyone knows was by far the best. you can still download / run MS money sunset edition for free.

I get paid bi-weekly so doing these by month does not work easily. Could you show us bi-weekly paid people how to do this exact budget based on paycheck dates for a month rather than by the months numbers?

Any recommendations if the SUMIFS formula will not work for the debits sections. I have done it several times.

The sheet gets really slow, entering data in de log tab and hitting the 'tab' key to go to the next cell takes a second, pretty annoying I must say, don't know how to fix this though, all my other excels are just fine. Thanks for sharing your knowledge though, much appreciated.

I had an issue where my formulas for my Totals section would give me 0. This was because my Totals formulas, for some reason, couldn’t under stand the returned Month values in cell C3 ( basically if I selected October in cell C3’s List menu it wouldn’t register in my formula *Edit: I added the Months in list order into C3 after I finished putting in the formulas in the same spots he showed us then the Month list and the formulas worked). The solution I’m using is to manually type in the Month I want to use in cell C3. If you’re still getting 0 as an answer, make sure the names in cells B5-B6 and B9-B13 on your Dashboard correspond to the Descriptions in Column C on your Log page (excluding cell C1 of course)

Here’s the formula too because the ones he tagged in the bio didn’t work (unsure if you need the apostrophes):


=SUMIFS('Log'!E:E, 'Log'!A:A, 'Dashboard'!$C$3, 'Log'!C:C, 'Dashboard'!B5)

Hi this is amazing thank you! I've been able to put in my expenses for the money but the Year to Date formulas keep coming up as 0 for me. Is there any advice you can give?? I think Excel changed the language at some point after this video was made.
