The final fantasy "fact" about its name is not a fact it is wives tale and rumor sakaguchi himself has said this rumor is not true. The name actually comes from the fact they wanted it to have the name shorten as ff, the game started off as fighting fantasy but they discovered there was a boardgame called fighting fantasy so they changed it to final.
