Spyres is the best: his French is impeccable, his comical acting is a joy to watch. As to his singing, it’s marvelous ❤

Kind of reminds me of John Aler in some ways, but I like John’s tone more.

I like to imagine that if Nicolai Gedda were still alive to hear this that he would be very happy. The best since his, which will always be legendary, of course. But even Gedda didn't trill like that!

You mention the D5, but not the E flat5 that preceded it?

The finest rendition of this obscure but very difficult aria since the late great Nicolai Gedda. Spyres is a revelation, possibly my favorite voice I’ve heard in person.
