ОтветитьThessaloniki, this name of the sister Alexander the Great.
Ответитьthanks ! so helpful!
ОтветитьThere is no other Macedonia except the Greek one. I want someone from Skopje to read me an inscription on an ancient monument since they say they are Macedonians. The Greeks can, the Skopians can't. Let them stop stealing Greek history, they are ridiculous and only the illiterate believe them
ОтветитьThank you for sharing. I will be visiting in November
ОтветитьMy favourite European city. My sister lived in the Stavroupoli suburb of Thessaloniki until 2015. I still have extended family there and some good friends too. I must go back one day x

ОтветитьThessaloniki (sister of Alexander The Great named by Philippos B' = Thessalo + Niki . Thessalo is the part of the word Thessalia area in Greece , Niki is Hellenic word translated to English word Win. After the Philippos B' won the battle against Union of Thessalia named he's daughter Thessaloniki . The area used as port and on East side now days Thermi there was springs of thermal waters. The city build by King Kassandros at 316 B.C he was the husband of Thessaloniki. The 90% ruins of the city is Roman and Byzantine empire the 8% is older remaining of the first city the 2% is other and ottoman empire.
ОтветитьThe Ottoman empire was so powerful
ОтветитьTesla-niki 🤣🤣🤣🤣
There where 4-5 incorrect details and there are so many more bars-restaurants - bakeries and cafe's to recommend but overall it was a good video!
*The great thing about Thessaloniki (named after the sister of Alexander the Great) is the vibe, so the lack of real time audio is something to consider!
The Greek region IS Makedonia. The state north of Greece is CALLED (northern) Makedonia. Know the difference. That fake state (MKD) has nothing to do with king Philip II, king Alexander III and the ancient and present Makedonians. The kings spoke ancient greek. There is not a ”makedonian” launguage. You can only be a Makedonian if you are Greek. The unfortunate people who live in that fake named state are slavic. They inhabited the area where that fake state is about 1000 years after Philip and Alexander time. This slavic people speek a bulgarian dialekt. They not even need an interpretor when the fake ”makedonians” and bulgarians meet. The borders of the ancient kingdom of Makedonia is about the same as todays the greek region of Makedonia is. Please be more respectful about the past and present of the city and the region.
ОтветитьThe city has a history of 2300 years and you insist in the ottoman rule era
ОтветитьHeya! What/how do you spell the name of the resturant near the Monastery please?
ОтветитьI'm an American Greek ,this young lady knows her history , great presentation for the history buff ,come to a highly tourist spot in any country and you need to open the wallet as well ,thanks for accurate assessing, I learned much from you ,good luck and 🍷to your health and wellness. Oh not giving you a fork is a big mistake on his part but your nice to not throw him under a bus ,don't judge me for saying that, but it's not intentional.
ОтветитьThessaloniki is my favorite mainland Greek city (next to Larisa, my adopted hometown❤). In fact, the whole region (Thessaly) is! Much better food and much nicer folks.
ОтветитьI would love to visit this beautiful place!!
ОтветитьFood wise :
- Mpougatsa Giannis ( best Mpougatsa in the city )
- Evora ( great steak house)
- Elenidis ( Trigona Panoramatos )
-Terkenlis ( for their well known tsoureki )
- Giok Mpalik ( both for gyros but also traditional Greek recipes )
-Tarantino ( arguably the best burger )
- Pizza Poselli ( great authentic pizza)
- Upsilon ( for coffee / brunch or cocktails)
-Choureal ( profiteroles)
- Gorillas ( cocktails)
The mast on white tower was stolen from a Turkish war ship that used to torture Greeks inside... so now that flag pole is actually that mast from the ship...
ОтветитьΚαλό ταξίδι
ОтветитьActually now I just watched the whole video and it was very disappointing. Thessaloniki has been a greek city since 3000 years and yet you mostly spoke about its ottoman past. Very strange. And the food you spoke of was mostly turkish and not greek. Next time you should try and enjoy the greek city as it is and not its oppressive past!
ОтветитьBut I hope you enjoyed your stay, great video.
ОтветитьYou are incorrect in thinking that the greeks took their food from the ottomans. Actually a lot of these dishes are from byzantine times. And some of them are from ottoman greeks and not turks.
ОтветитьFood for though: The Byzantines did not call themselves as such. They referred to themselves as Roman, and were every bit the same Empire as the their ancestors.
ОтветитьOmg 😳😳😳 you are coming in my town? Is my honor
ОтветитьLearn to pronounce Thessaloniki....T H E S S
ОтветитьYou’re such a cheerful person.

ОтветитьHi! Sorry, can you accept me in the Facebook group, please? ❤
ОтветитьHi and Hello !! A new subscriber from INDIA.Happy Christmas Holidays
