I've been listening to Steve since day one, he was a broadcasting genius, his afternoon show with all his crazy characters, 'ask elvis', 'mr angry', 'old woman' and my favourite 'sid the manager' were so entertaining,he put so much effort into every show, sadly I don't think he collected his MBE awarded to him in the New Years Honours,
a sad day for music radio fans everywhere. R I P Steve.

I wonder if Steve had took what Jeremy Vine was pushing while we were all jailed in our own homes . . ?

Im not an avid music man and i dont really listen to alot of music but i did tune into his shows .something about him the way he came across a lovely pleasant guy really down to earth Amazing. who one would always have time for. If it were not for him i wouldnt have heard about alot of good bands that rarely got a mention. I remember i tuned in one time and he played the circle by ocean color scene
Never heard of them before. Many other songs too. Oh and mr angry back in the day made me laugh
Rip buddy another good mam gone to early. You will be missed

An absolute legend of the UK dies and yet we still get these right wing nutters using his death as an opportunity to slag off the BBC. Steve wasn't bitter that his time slot was given to someone new. He understood that's how it works. The BBC gave Steve the platform to entertain us kids back in the 1980's and we loved it. He was still working for the BBC over 40 years later. Give us all a break and appreciate the talent we have just lost. RIP the best DJ we've ever seen. ❤

To this day when I want to know the time I do a "Tell me what the time is Steve" to the Missus in a Bowie or Jagger voice. And then I can't help following up, as much as I try, with the "Tell me what the temperature izzzz".
I started listening to Steve Wright In The Afternoon in the 1980s working in a factory during the student holidays. As you grow older you begin to reminisce about the heroes who mark the milestones of your life which makes it doubly upsetting when they pass away.

We have a problem with excess deaths sith a big increase in people dying at home. This man is another "died suddenly/ died unexpectedly". We have to question it.

Yet again the BBC have treated a brilliant broadcaster with contempt...they don't give a flying fig about how it affects people like the majestic Steve Wright on a personal level.
This disgusting corporation needs a lesson (very broadly) in how to treat people with respect!!

I bet it was a cardiac arrest. That is very sudden. Nothing can be done if it happens at home. My brother-in-law died of the same thing, at home.
I loved Steve Wright and always listened to his afternoon show with his different characters. 🌺

I thought Steve was brilliant and never thought he should have dropped all his characters , Mr Angry, Sid The manager and more.. It doesn't say what he died of , but I suspect because of his weight , probably 18 stone he died of a heart attack. He was always thin but when Cindi left him he lost control. So sad .....
