How do I reboot my smart tv when the screen doesn't come on? The brand is an (imperial smart tv) it the screen comes on then quickly goes off but the tv light has changed showing it's on.

The cell phone trick to check if buttons working is fantastic. Plus !! My one bad button, would not show a signal, but others that I thought were loose or something, took a second or two... So I just kept pressure on the bad button. After 15 seconds, it started working again! So really great piece of info here? THanks.

My tv doesn't respond to the remote at all. I replaced the batteries. I did a factory reset. I BOUGHT a new remote. I tried to update the firmware, but apparently you have to finish the welcome screen and initial set up before it will even acknowledge that a USB drive has been inserted, and in any case you will have to use the remote to start the install. NOTHING worked!

My expensive tv that is only barely out of warranty is now an expensive avantgarde art installation. I call it "victim of planned obsolescence". I rarely used it anyway, so I guess I'll just come to terms with the fact that I have owned my last tv. I guess my life will be simpler and less costly without too many expensive and unreliable gadgets that only serve to make me sad and angry. Thanks Sony for showing me the light.
