Great tips all around and I really appreciate your informative videos;
However, as far as I know the Center-Weighted metering mode ignores the focus point (always evaluates the center of an image, regardless of the focus point) as that is exclusive to the Spot-Metering mode, according to the manual/online info I could gather and test myself. Would love to hear your thoughts on this one.
The prob is, my camera doesn't have a min setting for shutter speed
ОтветитьBoring!
ОтветитьI have very recently started photography so i am a little new to everything being talked here, i have somewhat of a grasp on rest if the things he talked, but i am having trouble understanding AEL. Someone help lol
ОтветитьWhen I shoot in AV mode or TV mode why do they come out dark if I have the iso in auto..I don't get it..the ISO should work the same like when you shoot in auto setting 🤷...I always have to adjust the ISO myself...what am I doing wrong??? Ughh
ОтветитьThank you 😊
Ответитьtop tips i have just sorted out my X-T5 & X-T2 bless you!
ОтветитьGood info. The only problem with AEL is that since you have to keep the bottom pressed down you can't use back button auto focus since you'd have to use the same thumb finger to press both buttons. Most people use BBAF so either you forget about AEL or you have to use the old focus and expose with the shutter button which isn't ideal after you switch to BBAF. 😢
ОтветитьGlad you mentioned A(uto) E(xposure) L(ock) as it's crucial to using Aperture Priority correctly. If AEL isn't engaged when establishing focus the exposure won't be locked in so if you recompose, the camera's meter will go with the reading that it takes from wherever your camera ends up pointing before you take the shot. Aperture Priority is fantastic. I love it.
ОтветитьSuper helpful thank you 🙏 clear practical advice 😎
ОтветитьThank you for this video! One question. I have ‘interlock spot ae & focus area’ ON. This imo means that the metering is based on where I put the square (when using single point). This is easier than AEL but gives same result? Especially with B/W metering for whites or blacks.
ОтветитьI use AEL and hold on my Nikon D700, and love it, so easy.
ОтветитьWatched the whole things and learned so much from this thank you so much! ❤
ОтветитьVery useful tutorial thank you. I’m a street photographer with a Fuji XT5. My first outing with it, Notting Hill Carnival !) , was a cloudy day yet many of my shots were under exposed. Poor use of the exposure compensation control. My second outing, (Brick Lane), was a sunny day yet no less challenging. The custom control on this dial is very useful for on the fly adjustments. Yet I still over did it. Your comment about small adjustments was very helpful. Thanks again.
ОтветитьOMG - the Holy Guide to photography. Auto ISO, Apertures, Exposure Compensation, Photometry and Auto Exposure Lock CLEARLY explained. We amatures need to focus on these items to achieve a full enjoyment of the process. Don't under estimate of the value your videos have provided to us, the silent photographer!
ОтветитьPersonally I think you should keep your camera in Manual mode, it's not that hard to get a grip on your camera controls to achieve the same exactly the same exposure. As long as you understand your camera controls and exposure metering instintively you'll be fine and learn more in the process.
ОтветитьI use apeture priority ALL THE TIME. 🤣
With auto white balance and auto ISO. Cause I would love to mess about but it makes life easy
Thank you for this. Gives me some motivation and tips of what I need to do. My next lesson at the camera club is aperture priority mode so thank you
ОтветитьAEL is a great tip I use it a lot myself thanks for the information great tips.......
ОтветитьGreat Video Roman, it made understanding Auto ISO a little easier! One question, of all 3 auto iso settings, which one would you use for indoor events such as a wedding reception, where the light could be low and there could also be a lot of movement (Dancing, etc) ? Thanks, Bob
ОтветитьThis is a great video. Thank you for this. The auto iso setting are so clutch.
ОтветитьI am new to photography and videography and have watched tons of videos but this by far simplified everything I been struggling with thanks a bunch
ОтветитьTips are great!!!! Extremely informative!! I watch a ton of these and you're breakdowns are spot on!! Definitely hitting the bell!! ty
ОтветитьFacts I shoot f4-f5 this creates layers and separates people occasionally I’ll open up the lens a bit more if I want to have more DOF however it makes the photo flat.
Ответитьnice information, but why my Sony Alfa 7 II is not allowing to tune shutter limit 1/200 to set in aperture modeas you said. please reply.
ОтветитьYou taught me in 18 minutes more than my math teacher, god and my grandma together in all my life. Thank you
ОтветитьCool video. I tend to always shoot in full manual but have found that I'm not good enought to get it right all the time. I have shot in AP mode in the past but haven't recently and maybe on my trip this coming week to London I will use that mode. I just got a new 18-50 2.8 for my camera as I feel the 2.8 is more what I want over the f4 I was using for my go to street photography lens. While I agree with what you said about f4 being a great all around for street photography I find that I prefer a little shallower depth of field on most of my pics. Now I just need to figure out my other parameters like you stated. Any chance you want to wonder London next week with me????
ОтветитьThank you so Much! Interesting :)
ОтветитьWow I learned a lot just from this video, nice work! Really appreciate the tips you gave us :)
ОтветитьThanks for these recommendations Roman, I read a few articles on street photography settings and most were recommending to shoot at F8. I've been shooting at F8 for street photographer but the it came to me that I am shooting ASP-C the F8 recommendation is for full frame cameras and on my 35 mm lens F4 is like F6 full frame and F5.6 is like F8.5 full frame. I am going to try F5.6 or F4 from now on.
ОтветитьThe photometry and AEL portion of this video was very helpful to me as an "A" priority shooter! Thanks Roman!
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьThank you!
ОтветитьAmazing video. Thanks
ОтветитьAE-L is HUGE shooting outdoor candids at weddings. Because everything is fast moving AND you're usually using flash, expose for the sky and lock it, then recompose the people and TTL flash. The sky will be nice and blue, clouds will show up nicely, and the people will POP!
ОтветитьAll great explained. It helped me a lot to understand some features of my camera. I’ll put them into practice!
ОтветитьWhat if my camera doesn´t have this settings? :(
ОтветитьThanks Roman- one of those rare, wonderfully complete videos that is about more than just the settings in the camera, but also tips for photography, composition, lighting conditions, etc. I’ve done so much manual that I need to practice this, especially for street. Three questions, one what setting(s) is EV changing with aperture priority? ISO? Shutter? Two, I assume if you hit a scene that your parameters (min/max) for ISO and shutter just wont work, that you switch to fully manual? Correct? Three, how do you lock AEL on Fuji X cameras like Roger in the comments? Thanks for you art and your patience! Geoff
ОтветитьThat is why I bought the Pentax K1mk2 because you can tailor it, change it, and have everything right there..
ОтветитьTy good sir !!
ОтветитьI can’t seem to find a minimum shutter speed on my Sony 7ii? Anyone?
ОтветитьDude, your photos look absolutely amazing! Great tips & very clear explanation too. Cheers.
ОтветитьJust getting a bit more into photography and the last two settings explanation was really useful, that's what i was missing.
ОтветитьAbsolutely fantastic, thank you sooo much!
ОтветитьYou sir are gold! Thank you for this!
ОтветитьGreat video. Thank you very much!
ОтветитьHi Roman,
Just came across this video today and found it to very informative and useful and will certainty be incorporating your tips. Question I have is whether you would tweak anything for landscape photography? Thanks.
I have multi metering and also whole screen average. Which one is better for street photography?
ОтветитьYour sample photos look awesome. Thanks for the tutorial.
