Coaxial is a cheapened term. I think it's not so respected as they're high end ones .not a nice feeling.

Both R3 and Reference 1 have 6.5 inch bass drivers.

Excellent video. Truthful summarisation. Accurate conclusion. If I were in the market for a premium stand-mount, my money would go on the Kef R3!

I would prefer the R3 out of the three. I find that having neutral speakers is the easiest way to optimize my electronic chain. With the R3, I can have the option of going with bright amplifiers if I want a more lively sound; or I can go with warm amplifiers if I want a more relaxed presentation. Not to mention, the R3 is the cheapest of the three speakers. I would pick the R3 any time in my opinion.

Great comparison. I ended up buying the ref 1 (ex demo) and was pleased with slightly rolled off presentation. For me, being able to listen to a broader range of material with my high end speakers was a must. I owned the 201/2 and they were a great bookshelf but hated less than stellar recordings and I was never quite satisfied.

How would you compare the LS50 to a R3? Looking for better mid range and maybe a little flatter treble response. I get the feeling that the LS50s try to do too much with the mid-driver and a 3-way speaker will be a big improvement. Will eventually be pairing these speakers with a decent subwoofer like a Rythmik F15HP.
