I hate that they show the somalis firing RPGs into the air at the helicopters, because in real life the person firing r2g would get killed by the backblast when the rocket propelled grenade fires out, it would have been cool if they had shown what actually had to happen, because they got smart and realized if they dug holes and put the back of the RPG into the whole it would disperse the energy from the back last so you wouldn't get instantly killed. It still wasn't fun to be the one firing it, but it made it so they could fire RPGs right into the are basically. Because that and they're heavier machine guns were the only thing that could really hit the helicopters cuz they didn't have manpads or anything like that. Thank God they didn't result would have been way more of a Slaughter than it already was. It also really pisses me off that this was the incident that finally made the command structure to be like oh do you know what the overly exposed guys on top of the vehicles shooting the machine gun which is making you a priority Target for the enemy they should probably have some cover. So that's why there's Shields and bulletproof canopies and things like that. It makes me sick how long it took for the politicians and old farts to finally get that going. Just like in Vietnam they gave them shity trucks so they had to weld stuff on and throw sand bags and big ass machine gun and anything else they could do to make their chances of survival better. Because Vietnam and then almost every war after that became a lot more deadly because of booby traps, landmine and now especially in the last 30 years or so IED's.

My God I’d be deaf even before he puts his SAW right over my head. A 7.62 M60 is bad but I imagine the SAW is worse without hearing protection.
