Game Modes: Near Pin & Hole-In-One Contest
Characters: Koopa Troopa / Koopa Troopa*
Taking a break from character matches, it's time to explore some other modes that this game has to offer, particularly those that really test a character's control. In Near Pin, the object is to get as close to the pin on a par 3 hole as possible in one stroke. Landing off the green automatically counts as 100.00 feet away. Hole-In-One Contest has a similar premise, but it's obviously significantly harder to get a hole-in-one. Otherwise, it works exactly like Near Pin mode.
Will Koopa Troopa and his star variant be able to stand up to this test of accuracy and ball placement? Find out in this video!
Note: Hole-In-One Contest is accessed in the Special Contest menu, which is opened by holding Z when pressing Start on the title screen.

I've always played this game mode with a challenge: no handicaps and 4 players you have to complete the entire 18 hole course averaging less than 10 ft per golfer per shot. I've completed this only 3 times.

@ShadowBowser64 It's a little too cheap and gives the player an unfair advantage in my opinion. Simply having the landing point makes you have to think a little more.

I always wished Congo Canopy was playable as a regular course. An ice/snowy course would've been awesome too... although golfing on snow sounds pretty ridiculous lol. But then again if Mario can golf in a desert, he can golf through a snowstorm too.

Congo Canopy was an excellent idea. They could have make it better if it was a regular course.
