The Czechs worked quietly and efficiently in their factories inherited from the Austrian Empire and this arrangement suited both sides very well. The Germans were well aware that the British were keen to upset these relations, so they tried not to play this game and inflame the situation. Large crowds of Prague residents attended Heydrich's funeral. Even if all the Germans living in Prague had come, they would not have made such a crowd.

"Anthropoid" is a World War II thriller based on the true story of the Czechoslovakian resistance's mission to assassinate SS General Reinhard Heydrich.

A thorough description but the movie is not accurate at the end. The battle did not all take place in a basement but in two parts. First in an upstairs church loft involving Kubis and two others. Later a battle took place in a below crypt where Kabcik and 3 others committed suicide. Both Jan and Josef being together is the work of movie fiction. Kubis was initially captured wounded but never recovered consciousness and died soon after. On the assassination Gabcik shot Kline, Heydrichs driver outside a butchers shop not in a staircase. The movie Anthropoid is the most accurate with slight changes for dramatisation

If you take away the genocide and the totalitarianism, its a good system i think, i love all the glory of nationalism, and everyone wearing a uniform they can take pride in themselves, everyone as one big family, everyone helping each other, what's wrong with that ? He had the opportunity to do great things but threw it all away.

Czechoslovakia was originally an independent Protestant Kingdom. During the 30 Years War, the Spanish took over and dominated the Czechoslovakians. The heinously cruel and deranged Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand II was a radical Catholic maniac, and he forcefully imposed Roman Catholicism on the Czechs and Slovaks, burning alive at the stake anyone who would not convert. He unleashed a reign of terror on the Christian Bohemians during the 30 Years War. The Holy Roman Empire later became Austria-Hungary, and the Bohemians were still a part of this empire up until the Austrians were defeated in WW I. After the Great War, the allies formed Czechoslovakia out of the former Bohemia. It was always an unnatural partnership with the Germans.

At the time there were two rival spy agencies in Nazi Germany. One was led by Heydrich. The other, the military intelligence branch of the Wehrmacht, was run by Admiral Wilhelm Canaris. Heydrich wanted all intelligence agencies to be run by the SS (under his authority) and was building a dossier on Canaris, to build a case to have him removed. This would have worked with sufficient investigation as Canaris was feeding German secrets to the British Government in an effort to undermine the Nazi regime and save Germany from the Nazis, and was part of a group of senior officers plotting against the Nazis

The assassination saved Canaris for a while, but was ultimately removed as head of military intelligence in 1944 when Hitler finally agreed to transfer this work to the SS. He might have survived the war, but he was fingered as the spiritual head of the movement that tried to assassinate Hitler in the July 1944 plot (he was), and was a close associate of many of the plotters. While they never found the evidence to convict him, he was part of the liquidation of prisoners in April 1945, being killed about a month before VE Day.

If they were so brave why weren't they have a proper anti-fascist movement like Serbs of Greeks? Serbs had 2 anti-fascist movements,Serbian monarchist so called Chetniks (actually first one in Europe) and the communist one. Both combined had almost one million at the end of 1944. The assassination was a hare brained scheme, the Czechs knew it would bring reprisals but the Brits were angry about the amount of collaboration taking place as Heydrich had improved living and working conditions. The Brits were threatening to leave the Munich pact agreement in place after the war.

Someone dug up his grave last year and opened his coffin. The cemetery said that nothing was taken or damaged but he was buried with medals and ranks I can’t believe that grave robbers just looked at him and left, they had to take something.

The Germans are a wonderful nation: They gave us Marxism, Communism, Nazism, WW1, WW2, Lidice, Holocaust, concentration camps, Green Deal and EU energy crisis. But we forgot all that and choose to hate the Russians instead.

Hitler and the SS stopped communism from taking over all of Western Europe. That is a FACT that cannot be disputed. Two Czech cowards, misguided.
