Got myself a 32 inch beast of a crt the other month for $50 off of facebook marketplace. It was a pain the ass to get it home and into the house but i have it all set up now to play retro consoles on. I'm also looking into building a dedicated retro gaming pc to hook up to the crt to save wear and tear on my games and consoles.

Ive always wanted an old school TV, but Im waiting until i move. I just dont have room for another TV right now.

I might be wrong, but I believe you missed the part where CRT Tvs don't have pixels per say, the colors from each spot bleed a little onto each other, smoothing out the picture, artists back in the day used this to their advantage to make amazing pixel art that when seen through a CRT TV, takes a life of it's own.

Those old game consoles were designed around them. Old consoles look horrible on modern day flat screens. I have an Old Neo Geo with a few games as my only retro console and I don’t like playing it because all I have is a 4K and a 720p. Looks awful.

I have been filming games on ps1, ps2, megadrive, snes, saturn, dreamcast etc on my CRTs if anybody would like a look, they are not an easy thing to record and I am struggling a little to capture the sound but honestly to the naked eye they are so much better than emulators those tvs really do something to the games that an emulator cant in my opinion even with the filters etc.

Seeing original hardware displayed on the monitor it was designed for is magical... Not magical enough for me to ditch my Oddesey G7 or my oled though, and the reason is hdr, resolution and aspect ratio. You can still play those old game and even 6x the render res on some of them, and which can make up for the difference

I have a few CRTs. A ViewSonic Trinitron CRT for PC, a Sony PVM (damaged), but still functioning, and a 14" early 2000s Trinitron with Component video.

That said, unless you get lucky, and find one locally or within driving distance, then most aren't worth the inflated price they're going for in the last 7 years or so.

Back in the laste 2000s early 2010s, you could find some good CRT tvs for cheap, or even free but not now. Everybody knows what people want to do with these nowadays, and it's inflated the price of shrinking supply.

Another good reason to have a CRT TV is your sensor bar for the Wii, as it can just sit perfect on top of the TV!!! No need to balance it on top of a flat screen TV or tape it on if that didn't work! That Wii Sensor Bar sits perfect on a CRT TV like a Bird Nest! Also I love the, I know what you did last summer reference! So hilarious! :)

One time my computer was super lagy, and the game i was playing had over 1MINUTE of input lag!!!

I had two small CRT TV's in storage that my parents got rid of while I was at college. One of them even had a VHS player built into it. I'm still upset about it to this day.

Had a beautiful Sony TV that was huge and played all my game, but unfortunately the TV died. It was around 100 pounds and I had to hire two guys to take it away.

For me its a hassle for what i want. scart cables, rgb mods. and also no space for them. I need a room for all of my retro consoles, cable and tv. Right now I am thinking of getting an upscaler like the retrotink or the ossc, or just store the consoles and play my games with retroarch which has an amazing library of crt shaders that are so close to crt.

What different for CRT TV and modern TV with high definition?

Input lag on a LCD TV will never ever be on a "acceptable lavel". There is no gameing(!) LCD Monitors with acceptable input lag, of corse there will be no chance for LCD TV come to a "acceptable level".

Second is a color accuracy. Any LCD TV any LCD monitor is a garbeg in comperison with CRT. CRT is so accurat in the colires that you starting to see a 3D effect in a 3D games on 2D screen.

Unpopular opinion: I don't miss anything about playing my old consoles on CRT's. Admittedly it does require a much higher investment (both time and money) to get a good picture and making sure you get a low latency TV but it's my opinion that if you spend the money and do it right CRTs can't compare to a large 4k TV running properly scaled RGB output.

Just picked up an RCA Truflat TV at a local yard sale for $10. Definitely better than being stuck with my 200 pound monster in the garage.. (I still haven’t taken it to the game room since moving 2 years ago).

modern high refresh monitors have similar input lag to crts, the image quality is still a pixelated shit mess but it's responsive

I personally love crts because they just look a way that newer displays don't, they have a warm colorfull glow that makes games pop, and a lot of older consoles (cough cough N64) are practically unplayable on newer tvs without expensive or time consuming mods and upscalers
