I cannot understand this concept because I have a question: Is this supposed simulation collective or individual? If it is individual, so it's all happening in my mind, the computer no needs to simulate all the universe, just a little around me. If we are talking about simulating the universe and everything someone is watching, and all of us, so it is a collective simulation that is impossible to do. A civilization cannot live enough to achieve simulation without evident and loud bugs around us. :) .. but who knows!

Is it possible that our fear of Artificial Intelligence is programmed into our simulation to prevent us from ultimately discovering that we are, in fact, the artificial intelligence? This would prevent us from discovering that we don't really exist in a reality of our own, but are merely avatars, convinced that we are the ones that define what is real. And that what we perceived as "God" is the entity that provides us with the parameters in which we operate. Reality is perception, but your mind can make you see, hear, and even think things that aren't "real", so who's really in charge?

What if we all are in college 1000000 years into to the future and this simulation is part of our education. In this simulation, we learn about how to survive. Death is how we exit and wake up into the future.

Simulation theory, for me, is basically just a secular god theory. In most religions, they pretty much suppose that we are living in a "simulation" where there is a higher plane of existence. When you die you go there and can review your life, like it is recorded. Kind of like on a computer! Then you either stay there or go back (reincarnated). They basically hold god created the universe, so what difference is that really with a program? If we live in a simulation, someone created it, and to us, they would essentially be god. So really what is the difference?
