does Torguard offer dedicated ip with it's wireguard service??
Ответить4.5 minutes to get to actually setting up the router
ОтветитьI get on my Helium hotspot NAT Symmetric. Any clue how can be fixed.
ОтветитьDisappointed in the speeds you were getting. Is that just because of the mini router. Can I expect much faster Wireguard speed on a much more powerful router such as a Netgear R7800 running Openwrt, or are we stuck with these slow speeds on routers? On my desktop I get 700mbs speeds running wireguard on my 1Gbs fibre line. 70mbs is a huge comedown.
ОтветитьI bought GL.iNet GL-AX1800(Flint) WiFi 6 week ago.
Problem with WireGuard server. Sent back to Amazon.
Also I have 2 x Beryl 1300, they works ok.
Amm,.. this uses outside VPN provider, right (TorGuard).
Does not GL-inet create its own WireGuard server which you can use?
I mean, what is the point of this router then?
Apart from the GL-inet routers, What other routers can we use for wirguard setup?
ОтветитьWho else is here because they’re getting DDOSed?
ОтветитьOne more...
In this video you mentoned the limitation of a vPN router in terms of its processding power and a possible bigger speed reduction than via a computer.
In my case my main computer is an Asus Maximus 6 with the operating system in a physically separate SSD, and 32 G or RAM.
My first Laptop is a Lenovo W520 also modified to suit linux and easily sdhageabe operating systems by the use of the optical drive bay with multiple trays each having separate SSDs used only for the operating system. the main HD inside is a 960Gb. SSD used only for data, keeping both permanently separate.
On the road, I have a whole second set of hardware, aimed more or less to do similar work to he home setup, but I do not want to have to transport a NAS box along with all else, if possible (This may not proove cost effective given the high cost of bandwidth in Canada, TBD.)
As you see this is quire a retirement hobby, buy also I hope to be able to use it to introduce a few others to it all, especially now that Quebec has been put in the "Green zone" with regards to COVID.
So, time will tell as we are already half way through summer, and I am less likely to want to cvhase to Tim Horton's or other coffee shops in a winter blizzard especially as I do all this with public transit.
(At age 76, I no longer drive, but in Canada's larger cities this is less of a problem than typically in the U.S. although I am aware that America is chagng this, albeit slowly. both Toronto and Montreal are also doing major upgrades to their Urban transit systems.)
Re Hi Tom:
Back in June I tried to order the GL whatever minirouter that you had referred to.
However when I went to place the onlineorder they wewre unabl;e to deliver to my address in the Greater Montreal, quebec, Canada area, in spoite of their claim they could deliver worldwide. thel also had replied that this, to them was odd.
Ultimnately I found out that one of the router I have here does support VPN, but I doubt that I could get it to support Wireguard without having to flash it, which risks being disruptive here.
So, looking around here nobody seems willing to show bricks and mortar presence for the sale of these routers, and onlie this could result in a disruptive and time consuming goose chase.
Can you add some help for this, canada and Quebec specific to purchase of this hardware, without the need to flash?
Otherwise I will have to let it wait until I feel more Quebec specifically satisfied with the market, as well as fot those locally who ask me.
While a VPN can circumvent georestriction, if the needed hardware is not adequately avalable wherte it ids needed it akes the lot look like "vapourware"!
I'm using wireguard to get free unlimited data for expired telco sim🤣🤣🤣 n highspeed
ОтветитьEdgeRouter is the win
Ответитьblinking screen in the background super annoying
ОтветитьJust to clarify, if I install wireguard on my Asus rt-ac68u, i don't have to pay for a VPN service anymore like expressvpn etc? Is that the purpose of putting a vpn on the router?
ОтветитьThank you for the transparent and helpful info :) !
Ответитьmight have helped to explain from the start what wireguard is.. i lost interest and after suggesting a slow router.. adios
Ответитьi bought the router last week TP-Link AC5400 and
it works perfectly..
in my case I have `problems with the vpn
when I can connect with the l2tp protocol
after using it in half an hour or more ..
the vpn stops working and the router cannot reconnect
I really don't know if the router is ready to use vpn even though
of the options to do it ..
since in the of vpn applications on android and pc it works perfectly without suffering cuts.
Do you have the same cutting problem?
I have been looking for router or switch that are designed to use vpn to see if with this I can solve the connection cuts
my intention is to leave the router configured with vpn
without having to manually restart it
This problem, as I repeat, only happens to me when I use any
configured protocol whit: TP-Link AC5400 or linksys wrt32x
with your original firmware or with dd-wrt
I will see if in the next week buy in amazon
el: GL.iNet GL-AR750S since I see that it has a good reputation in a wide list of vpn.
I have an ASUS router which I configured to use torguard as they have pretty good instructions for this. I had to get the IP address for the one in Los Angeles as for some reason it did not do the name conversion like it did for the one in Las Vegas. The one I have does not do wireguard but have not flashed it with the other things you can use for these. I have not tested my speed yet as the one that I would mainly do is use my TV and that is out of service as the moment. Torguard was saying I would probably get 24 MB/s since I only have a gig processor in the ASUS I have so like you that might slow down what I can do since it does not have the same processing power as computers do.
ОтветитьGood video Tom! Torguard just released wireguard on android.
