i only eat from 2pm to 6pm since 2 years. i'm 41 years old and i never felt better in life. i defeated my depressions in that time(no more meds), lost 20kg fat and i'm loving my life again.
in my opinion its the best way to get healthy

What if I have a drink that has 5-10 calories in it in the morning. Does that completely destroy the "fast"?

Prolonging breakfast is not a good idea. You are very depleted after sleep, especially if you work out.

Fasting is good for the pancreas. But lose body fat can be done by eating right. And moving around. Eating before bed is not the best. Which a majority of the population seems to be doing.

Fasting is not the way. I know plenty of people who fasted only to get cancer and other illness. You're putting stress on your body when you fast. Not a good way to lose weight when your cortisol gets jacked up.

I have done intermittent fasting without knowing it for years. I feel very slow if I eat a larger meal in the morning. I actually notice my performance is better if I don’t eat anything early in the morning or if I eat something light, such as vegetables and fruits. It makes me feel amazing.

Okay, I certainly don’t expect Andrew to respond, but maybe another viewer of this video can chime in on my questions.

When “fasting” what are we to do when hunger strikes? For instance, I cannot sleep if I’m hungry, and I cannot function well when my stomach is rumbling. I get hit by hunger quite quickly, and it feels bad to ignore that message that my body is sending me. Are we supposed to ignore it?

Can someone direct me to a resource or provide me with an answer about how to deal with hunger pains in relation to intermittent fasting?

Everybody who has tried fasting knows it doesn't work unless you already have a degree of mastery over your eating. The average person wanting to lose weight and get healthier you will gain weight jumping into fasting. You will be so hungry and eventually eat a lot. But the worst problem is you will stay hungry for a week or two even after eating too much food for days. Fasting only works if eating hasn't been a big problem for you.

That’s great for folks who have anything resembling a normal schedule….

As an OTR trucker there’s no such thing nor do we have access to truly healthier food options which is why trucking and transportation workers are at the highest risk of obesity, yet nothing is being done about it

Then we have the whole drug testing thing and medical fitness standards which I don’t get it’s ok to be all pumped up on meds to manage your diabetes, high blood pressure, be grossly obese that’s fine but you better not smoke a doobie

As much as I value most of what Huberman has been teaching us, recently I'm questioning why it is that he himself is looking so OLD lately. He's only in his late 40s, as I understand. Makes me question what he is promoting for maintaining youth... doesn't appear to be serving him.

Fasting should only be something you do once in a blue moon, if you are obese and in a weight loss program, the 3 meals a day + activity has been already proven to be optimal.
All these meme-diets and extreme fasting methods promising miracle results are snake oil, you will mess up your hormones for minimal gain, people really trying to reinvent the wheel, instead of doing their homework.

FROM EXPERIENCE: i do not recommend to fast for like 16-18 hours IF, you are having some hardships in life at the moment, i recommend to start doing that in good times cuz i ended up overeating or eating at another hours due to "feeling lost" due to hardships

I'm not an alcoholic, don't smoke or do drugs, but eat like a piggie. I started the fasting at 308 lbs; I'm 5'10" and my 50's. I've lost 60 lbs in 7 months of eating between 5 pm to 8 pm on 95% of those days, without really exercising. I'm going to start exercising. Goal is to reach 175 lbs. Fasting has not been difficult. I suggest to fast for a few days, and then ask yourself, "Can I do this?" I believe your mind will say, "I can fast for longer if I want." Lead with the mind. Ok, this works for me and I have a long way, but I also lost 40 lbs. about six times in the 5 years leading up to my fasting diet, only to recuperate the weight each time. I was a yoyo. Fasting helps me stay disciplined since I'm not thinking about food 24/7. I feel my discipline sucks, so fasting is a way for me to combat my lack of discipline. I'm not the type that can eat one chocolate; I'll eat half the box... Yesterday was first day of exercising routine - I used a stationary bike for 1 hour, 20 miles, and I asked myself if I was exhausted. My body was a bit, but my mind told me I could go another hour at least.
