What if I hurt my puppy?
ОтветитьMy 5 months old golden loves snow! And walk here in Canada means to get attention from snow! And he loves bight if the leash
ОтветитьIs it enough for them to simply look back in my general direction or must they make definite eye contact?
ОтветитьThis is a nonsense video.
That dog got 0 exercise.
And you're supposed to do this for many days and weeks?!
Watch Beckman's dog training, he achieves the goal in 10 minutes, then actually walks the dog for half an hour.
I have x3 dogs and it’s impossible to take one dog at a time without the other dogs knowing so by the time your trying to separate the dogs they are already hyped up and very difficult to settle to get to that point where your starting
Otherwise I can see how some of these elements would work for my most difficult
A simple head collar solved the problem immediately with my dog Homer, probably a malinois-and-god-knows-what-else mix. He pulled like a sled dog when I first got him, but a Gentle Leader head collar put a stop to the behavior in just one walk. It was amazing.
ОтветитьI would like another video with a young pointer in a neighborhood full of underbrush and squirrels.
ОтветитьI love this form kind of training😍 no pain, no angry...only psitivity and consequence - thank you so much❤️
ОтветитьNothing I try works. He gets so distracted.
Ответитьthe main thing is consistency! You can't just do this one day a week and the rest of the time, be sloppy. I have a four month old English setter who, in the last couple of weeks, thinks I need to become a windsock! No way...I have tried other things and she is just so hard headed, so I will try this this evening and see if it changes things a bit. I do want for her to be a dog I can be proud of, it will take a bit but I am patient!!
ОтветитьShoutout to Carol for being an expert at teaching both dogs and people! Thank you for the lesson!
ОтветитьLove all the ways you show how we can play with our dogs and still incorporate learning..i had lost the way a bit with this 😊
ОтветитьThey have to wait for you to pass then come behind
Ответитьbeautiful looking dog
ОтветитьGood video. With extreme pulling I use also the halti. In about 15 min I get the perfect walk
ОтветитьI have used Winifred Gibson Strickland's "Expert Obedience Training for Dogs", and she advocates the use of a slip collar, which has worked for me, but it could be better, so I'll check this out. Standard Poodles. One was like power steering, so easily trained, the other was capable of dragging me down an icy sidewalk on my stomach, slip collar or not.
I could never understand how anyone thinks they can teach a dog to heel or behave while on a harness, or where they get the idea that a harness is any kind of control. I have had Siberian Huskies. Harnesses for dogs are for pulling things, just as they are for horses.
Waiting for an Airedale puppy, and possibly an English Setter.
Carol is an expert I can count on to learn from. Please eliminate the annoying music in the background. It is distracting from the task at hand. Carol does not need the goofy music to catch our attention. Thanks, Carol, for your genuine love of dogs.
ОтветитьGreat video! Thanks for breaking it down and explaining, very helpful!
Ответить🥰
ОтветитьWhat kind of doggy treats are perfect for rewarding that’s healthy?
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьWhat about a dog that is scared of the leash and won’t get near the door
ОтветитьHow do you do all these techniques when your dog is not food motivated, she doesn't eat treats at all?
ОтветитьDay 786 and Rocky still won't stop being reactive to dogs, people, and animals in nature. I can't handle him anymore. My arm is gonna fall off. He's getting shipped to the bologna factory.
ОтветитьWhat if my dog isn’t good motivated? Mine won’t even look at me or take treats
Ответитьthere's no way my dog is gonna learn that fast lol but ill try it
ОтветитьWhat a gorgeous golden.
ОтветитьMarvelous work and attitude.
ОтветитьCarol, was the training you did in the video all you needed, or was it a shortened version?
ОтветитьI got the going through the door part down, finally, but the walks are still quite stressful (for me, that is). Mainly because I simply don't have this much time every time I need to take my dog out... I've done the turn back - calm down - reward - continue the walk trick when I had the time but my dog is still pulling and barking at everything he wants to bark at. It's terrible. The worst part is that I feel like I have to work so hard to keep this dog at bay, I'm starting to not enjoy the walks anymore. Otherwise he's a super intelligent, quick learner type of dog, but accepting authority is something he struggles with. Also, ofc I don't want to punish him but how do you teach him that barking at small kids is not OK? He's scaring kids and one time a boy fell off his scooter he got so frightened... it's my responsibility to make sure this doesn't happen. Granted, our walking path starts in an environment that I imagine can be quite stressful for a dog: the first few meters are along a busy road. I can't do anything about that though.
ОтветитьWhile I appreciate all of the tips and tricks shown in this video, this dog seems far less distractible and high-energy than my pup, which makes it hard to actually practice these. A treat is less rewarding to her than outside stimuli (a squirrel, a smell she likes, a sound she’s scared of) so it can be hard to get her to even get her attention with treats. Maybe I need to use a higher reward treat?
ОтветитьAs soon as you get a dog, join a class that will teach you how to use a slip collar properly. Even if all your friends use harnesses or whatever gear is trending, use the slip collar to walk your dog and do not use that retractable leash.
ОтветитьFinally a channel where you teach dogs without prong collars, hitting, scaring, slip noose or any of that.
ОтветитьIm impressed. I like your delivery of instructions and I'm excited to get out into my yard with Rupert and start training. Stay cool this weekend. Its roasting out there.
ОтветитьI will try 😂
ОтветитьGreat video ifnyou are fit. I have knee and hip issues so running backards and hip pivoting arent an option, also, most people have screen doors also so opening the main door and screen door that opens out is a whole new different method
ОтветитьThanks for this video. Our last dog was a 60kg Bullmastiff that only I could walk because he pulled so much. My girlfriend wasn't strong enough to walk him.
We've just put a deposit down on a Spanish Mastiff x Great Pyrenees, so we really want to get good leash training down this time, as he could potentially be even bigger than our Bullmastiff and I'd like my girlfriend to be able to take him out without me sometimes.
I can get my new dog out the doors calmly but she wants to chase cars and the more we walk the more lost in her little dog head she gets lost and there's no way to calm her other than come home and stop the walk. We've had her a month and nothing I'm doing is helping her not to hate cars or especially trucks to want to run after them, which gets her going and than she becomes unpleasant to dogs so we're not able to meet dogs. At home, she's great to us and the kids.
ОтветитьGuessing this is done when the dog doesnt need to use the bathroom
ОтветитьMy dogs walk great on a leash-AFTER they go to the bathroom. Is that normal? Mornings are the worst
ОтветитьI have a sprolly thats reactive to cars. Getting out the door is an issue. Ive been using sit and stay but then when ive got the door locked he still trys to pop my shoulder out its socket. Cant wait to try this out.
ОтветитьWhat a woman!! 🥰🤩
ОтветитьThis is great! Trying this with our boys tonight.
ОтветитьThis is better that another video I saw from you guys on a similar topic. Now if only the people who’s dog I’ve been walking can learn these things that would be incredible.
ОтветитьI wanted to try this method and even bought their leather leash since other videos claim that a leash with any give won’t work.
Tried this last night with an 80 lb 1 year old high energy Lab. A Lab that is in teenage phase, will listen for several minutes, training in backyard, and then suddenly without any warning he will bolt and want to run and do lightening fast turns.
Using this method…I almost got my left hand broke last night when he bolted since the leather snapped across my hand and then yanked. Horrible pain!
I had to switch back to the gentle leader with nylon leash so I wouldn’t get a trip to the ER. 😡
She looks so much like my Oliver
ОтветитьI looked at quite a few videos for dog walking and yours was the best. I really like how you explain everything and always with patience. Thank you
ОтветитьTrainer Carol is excellent.... relatable and easy to follow. Love me some Steve Walsh too. But I have had my dog 2 1/2 months, and I am not THAT successful.
ОтветитьMy puppy is so insane when he gets the leash on that there's no way I could get him back inside once we step outside!
Ответить
