So weird. I watch your ebike reviews. Randomly googled window light blocking, and here you are.
ОтветитьAmazing!!!
Thank you
The hooks are genius! I can avoid taping everything back up. 👍
ОтветитьThis cool. You gave some ideas with my blackout blind. Thanks...x
ОтветитьI would just save up and buy cordless blackout cellular shades that open from the top or the bottom
ОтветитьThe purpose of blackout curtains is to block out light - what the fuck use are these shit things? Wanker, absolutely misleading title...
ОтветитьGo all the way hun, get 1/4in poster foam board...def will blkout
ОтветитьThis is a really good idea and what I was looking for. I had used black vynal and velcro, but this is way easier! Can't wait to do this for my son's room that gets the morning light since his window faces east.
Ответитьblack poster paper wouldve worked. but good job
ОтветитьGreat idea! I’ve been wanting to make something temporary too! My husband works nightshift but I love to let natural light in whenever I can so this is a great solution.
ОтветитьHey, wait a minute -- aren't you the electric bike reviews guy?!!!
ОтветитьUse Heavy Duty aluminum foil taped or glued to construction paper, Aluminum facing INSIDE so it doesn't look all ghetto outside lol. You can also do some art or paint the construction paper if you want but most importantly it's guaranteed to block 100% of the light.
ОтветитьWhere did you get your blinds or shades?!?!
ОтветитьBy the time you have paid for all the board, tape, and hooks, you can just buy the light blocking window film for less cost!
ОтветитьTape a one-layer sheet of aluminum foil to one side of the board, covering the entire board. No light can make it through!
ОтветитьHello! thank you for your video! I would propose you to use plastic thin boards black color so the light won't pass as well the condensation water won't be a problem for the blinds. from where i come from those boards also should be available in craft shops! thanks for the idea. i think i will use it!
ОтветитьBlack paper?
ОтветитьGreat video my friend, you definitely got the ball rolling for me, and some great tips in the comment section. I love the simplicity of this without going for an expensive or permanent solution. I installed a roll blind years ago, and as you said, it blocks 90% of the sunlight, but it is the 10% around the edges that wakes me up lol ....................... Thank you for a great presentation.
ОтветитьThis is stupid. Don’t do this. Use panda film. Google it.
ОтветитьHow could you possibly be so stupid that you do all that work and don’t even show the results of how dark it is... idiot probably has no idea why all the dislikes...
ОтветитьHa ha thought I clicked an electric bike review by mistake. Court does more than ebike reviews, apparently. Looking for a way to block light from sliding patio doors and still have some ventilation. The search continues.
Ответитьive got black out curtains too but just too many gaps so i use black t-shirts either side but still doesn't work, ive always struggled to sleep most of my life that's why im on sleeping tablets but the light still wakes me if im facing the direction whilst sleeping, ive just bought some black out paper blinds off Amazon 😁 then a few weeks later find this vid
ОтветитьGreat concept in this video -- and additional ideas in the comments. Awesome. This may not work as well but haven't seen it mentioned yet -- before watching this video I taped (could use velcro) a sheet of paper to the fly screen that pops in and out.
ОтветитьSimply BRILLIANT !
ОтветитьPoster Board can be bought at $1 STORE
ОтветитьI use black vinyl. If you click my channel I have a video of how I did my garage side by side with black vinyl and black plasti dip. I wasn't looking to impress anyone so it doesn't look the best but it damn sure is effective. I'm going to use black vinyl on certain windows in my house. $7 per window and you can peel it off.
ОтветитьThanks. Very ingenious. I am also one who is cursed with the need to sleep in complete darkness. I suspect that my eye lids don't shut completely when I sleep so constant light shining into the retina is the culprit. Glare is my biggest enemy. If I sleep with light creeping in or reflected on the walls then I would wake up with a pretty bad headache that could last for hours. I used to just use alum foil to cover up the windows. It was very effective but not so nice to look at.
ОтветитьAren't you the guy who doe's the bicycle reviews?
ОтветитьDark rooms don’t need to be completely black. As long as you have several feet of light leak away from your working area, you may be ok. Do a coin test
ОтветитьWow. You reinvented shutters! :)
ОтветитьI prefer thick, or two sets of curtains piggy backed (hooked at top) on each other that go from above the window to touching the floor with a pelmet at the top covering the rail because they make the room feel more up market, cosy, homely. Curtains absorb noise and help to reduce echoes the same as all soft furnishings do like carpets, sofa's etc. A vinyl blackout window blind that seals round the edges will help to keep the cold out as well as the light.
ОтветитьI know I am 3 yrs late I did something similar...with white outside and black poster board inside.... great minds and sensible .
ОтветитьOne quick tip, it might just be me but I've found that the lounge works a lot better when its not on its back.
Ответитьomg I have the same idea but idk how to execute it, thank you so much for this video
ОтветитьGood idea. Thank you. I've been working on this very thing to block out a very Bright light outside
ОтветитьCurtain blackout lining fabric cut to fit and and hook them up instead of paper
ОтветитьGood idea. I'm going to use foamboard.
ОтветитьDo you review ebikes? Working on some windows and recognize that voice?
ОтветитьWhy not back the paper with aluminium foil which would give total light block plus thermal protection when the sun's out?
ОтветитьPut decorative contact paper or wall paper over it...
ОтветитьMy son did something did a similar thing but with foamboard which blocks out more light.
ОтветитьThank you! Something like this is going to save my sanity.
ОтветитьWhat about applying black spray paint to the paper to block out light?
ОтветитьI used black vinyl and a tension rod but the weight of the fabric causes the tension rod to fall slightly, allowing light to STILL leak in! 😢😢
I think a bunch of those command hooks are the key to making it work!!! 😂 thank you
I'm not interested in blocking light. My at-home work station faces the neighbor's house and I want to let the natural light in from the top half of the window. This is something I've been looking for instead of window treatments. THANK YOU!
Ответитьmaybe just do cardboard
ОтветитьWe did something similar.. instead we used cardboard…
ОтветитьDude called these "blackout window coverings" 😂
ОтветитьThey have a foam type in all colors at the dollar store u can use that blacks out really well. Used rhem.camping once n in a car. Worked good. Never thought of that for my windows behind my curtains even my balck outs or diy blackouts hmm i get alot of heat in my apt on one side. Great idea they say use white so the sun reflects it. I also.find reflectics dont woek n tinfil is a pain but works well. If i glued the tinfoil to w board r rhe boards ie used be perfect. Can tae rhe down n put up easier
