I am an 77-year-old golfer and only been playing for about 7-8 years. I do struggle with adding distance to my drive and hope this video will help. will get back after I try this at the driving range.
ОтветитьDanny, you're simple the best!!! Today before a round of golf I was looking for a video that would help me improve my driver, your words and your drill were so simple that I immediately applied them to drivers and irons, I can't explain to you how easy the round was for me
ОтветитьI like Danny but he himself has lost sight that in the golf swing we don’t need to practice anything - you don’t practice breathing everyday - it just happens naturally, the golf swing is scientifically a pre-installed natural motion - he mentions throwing a stone and still tries to break down a section, the aim is to transfer maximum speed with and energy in a natural subconscious human movement will transport a projectile from A to B on target in one motion - why? If I say skim this stone to that lake in that particular spot please - the person throwing doesn’t stop midswing and instead start analysing where my arm is in x position or how is my posture in y position - it’s just a natural human instinctive not even subconsciously thought of of motion - and yet that similar motion for gold we break things down that are natural lisn’t concentrating on the stone and then the part in the lake - yet you wouldn’t release that stone and start stopping in a natural position and motion and start analysing your technique and break it down when actually it’s at natural motion that actually sorry to say requires no tips or coaching and coaches aren’t required - the motion should not be changed or tampered with and shouldn’t even been consciously entering the mind to change a natural movement training a wrong position - thankfully coaches rely on selling you a tip each week and get paid for it is people believe they’ll get a secret yet the only secret is swinging an object from one place to another is a natural human ingrained movement that shouldn’t be altered there shouldn’t be any thought at all
ОтветитьI love it!
ОтветитьI used to play golf as a kid and early teens then sporadically in my 20s and 30s.
Up until last month I hadn't hit a ball for over 20 years. (So yeah I'm in my late 50s)
My first visit to the Driving range I was hitting my 25 year old Wison(not very) jumbo driver about 180 yards when I wasn't shanking it left along the floor topping it 50yards or slicing it further to the right than it was going forwards. Which is embarassing as I could hit a bladed 3 iron further than that when I was about 12.
I asked the guy in the next bay to hit my driver and he smashed it 278yrds and told me it needs a new grip. I did eventually hit a few over 210yards with a ball speed of 118mph which is club speed about 75-80mph. Since then I've had a full round of Golf and 2 short 9 hole par 3 games.
And bought a second hand Mizuno Sp630 driver off ebay. Which I quite like now I can hit it.
Each time I step up to hit a ball I keep remembering things i'm not doing I know I can hit the ball further but i do feel like a robot Whereas when I was a kid I used to litterally look at the shot pehaps have a practice swing and just hit it.
I need some lessons!
Ok Danny I am going to try it. I so hang on to all my clubs but especially Driver. In Danny I trust.
ОтветитьJust coming back to golf after 3 years, my drives are 200 carry, zip off the tee but high and floaty so I'm gonna give this a try
ОтветитьNice big boomer on this one, goes right.
ОтветитьMy god Danny, I just noticed you're approaching 1million subscribers. I'm so glad for you mate. Your way of instructing is fantastic, full of humour and understanding. The sound of your club swooshing with ease is what I'm going to aim for. Thank you
ОтветитьSo Danny I am an eye surgeon who has had to take an early medical retirement. I was a top basketball player and a road cyclist and avoided golf as being too time expensive. Last summer I bought Callaway Apex and Epics and I now live in California where I can play all year. I have had a few lessons but humility has been required in this quest to catch up with this really difficult activity. You voice is with me every day on the course or the range. This one is definitely on in my head when I step up to drive. It's the best part of my game now...Those approach shots.,.not so much.. Thanks for all you do!
ОтветитьDanny great tips as always, explained in simple, common sense terms. I often refer back to your vids and will take tips away and play with them at the range. Bunker vid with your Dad ive worked time and again. Love to get in repeatable routine with shots, that really breeds confidence on the course. Cheers mate, keep em coming
ОтветитьMy quick tip for these videos is: skip about four fifths of it and there you will find the summary!
ОтветитьCan I have your lazy shot please ild be over the moon with them numbers, I'm trying but I know with driver I have alot of spin I'm trying to hit up more but it's a struggle
ОтветитьHey Danny - wanted to get your thoughts on this. I recently changed my driver swing from a fade to a draw and suddenly my backspin plummeted all the way down to the 1500s. On the range I'm fine - would you be concerned with that for playability? I've tried a heavier weight in the back and that moved me from the original 1200 backspin. I get a very high launch and honestly great ball flight, but I'm concerned I'm adding more dispersion that I should. Is this something you'd worry about and if so, is there a way to INCREASE driver back spin?
Ответитьiv just gained around 10 yards from this technique recently even though i watched this video a while back. i was playing with a low handicapper from my club and he had just mentioned to me about relaxing the grip and wrists and thats what did it for me. even when i felt i was loose i wasnt gaining anything nut i was obviously gripping the club too hard and not letting the hands turn over.
ОтветитьDanny please come and train me in Australia
ОтветитьThis is me to the tee...I need to make some changes before I get discouraged with golf!!
ОтветитьCannot move like that.
ОтветитьThank YOU!
ОтветитьHowdy Danny.
This video makes a lot of sense.
I gave up on golf 10 years ago at a handicap of 2 as i lost interest in the game due to to many forced errors per round and feeling like i just wasnt good enough shooting 75 a round.
I just couldnt go any better and the more i tried the more i controlled and the worse i got which made me frustrated and try harder and control more etc etc.
Its a vicious circle and looking back no=w 10 years on i can see that.
I am getting back into golf and will have my first game on wednesday 21/9.
Im very excited to play but will definitly keep this video in my memory as this is the mindset i want to have and i never want to return to that complete control mindset again as it is very destructive to a good and enjoyable round.
This is a great video. I am one of those that wants to control every aspect of my swing and I totally just piece together pieces of a seeing rather than one fluid seeing. I will definitely work on letting go. Thanks Danny
ОтветитьWhere are located Danny? Here in NYC we need a coach like you!
ОтветитьDon’t know how I missed this gem of a video for so long! Thanks Danny.
ОтветитьI bet all these coaches are like 3m tall with super long arms making them able to hit the ball way further than the rest of us, and just making up random tips to seemingly help us, but really it will never work because we are not 3m tall😭
ОтветитьThank you so much for your lesson. May I ask what kind of indoor golf screen, ball flight measurement tools distance and how to get the lovely St. Andrew screen court for great concentration best practice that doesn't need to go to the range in night time ?
ОтветитьI have shared this in my local golf group and I vil try it at the driving range with Garmin R10.
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьLove your freedom of swing philosophy! Danny do you feel the hip or knee starts the lower body ? I find focusing and pushing out my left knee at an angle helps keep my arms loose. Thoughts ?
ОтветитьHi dannny, I am big fan. I physically and theoretically understand the way you teaches golf. I was struggling with my driver and now I am hitting it straight and longer. My question is how do I work on reducing the spin rate on my driver? I fly my drive about 270 but I roll. My apex is about 95 to 100
ОтветитьI tried this today at the range and it really does work. Sure, some I sliced, but the majority of the balls were just fine if not a better shape than I am used too. What I love about is I stopped thinking about all these swing thoughts and simply thought in my backswing "Load up for a draw, play a draw. Load up for a fade, play a fade". Ball after ball for 3 buckets, never got tired, and the contact was pretty damn good. I found though that it helped when I lightened my grip, I guess it released some stored up tension I had. I went from like maybe a 6/10 to like a 2/10 in pressure and I could really feel the club head behind me in that draw spot. I even switched from an interlock to an overlap grip, but I couldn't maintain it (small hands). I paired this with a split grip drill and was really feeling like my depth was increasing, good stuff Danny!
ОтветитьDanny Maude, you are the man!! I took these tips to the course for golf league tonight for 9 holes and hit every fairway and picked up a easy 20-30 yards! Oh, and I shot a 38!
ОтветитьAmazing video! Highly recommend it to everyone !
ОтветитьI will try it tomorrow. thank you very much.
ОтветитьYour video helped me make the connection! I’m looking forward to trying tomorrow night on the course!
ОтветитьAfter applying this concept, I can say that I had immediate improvements in my driving.
Tank you Danny, your videos have had a great impact in my game.
Loved this video , especially the end about being courageous. I tend to try and control my driver, but I just watched my 9 yr old granddaughter hit a drive wonderfully with total abandon. So I decided to imitate her swing and just swing freely with momentum and looseness. It worked! My husband said he was so impressed with my drives after our round, and I said I was copying our little granddaughter Logan.😊. Exactly what you are getting across in this video. Thanks for your enthusiasm and passion!
ОтветитьDear Mr Maude. All I can surmise with golf bombs like yours is that you are one big lazy @#£££ !
ОтветитьI know this is a older video, but this really helped me out. Thanks Danny.
ОтветитьThis is exactly what I needed to hear. I go through periods where all I'm trying to do is control the club and it leads to terrible shots. I always tell myself I need to work on technique, but when I let things flow everything self-corrects. Another amazing video. Thank you for all that you do!
ОтветитьWith Danny's help I'm now hitting driver farther and consistently straighter. Time to use this video for getting draws and fades back. So excited!!
ОтветитьMy one criticism of Danny’s videos is when he’s trying to characterize the improvements of a student, because though he is trying to represent stage one of improvement he is already hitting like a pro. It’s hard to relate. I really like it when he actually has a student featured.
As for the content of this particular video, I really like how it lines up with the coaching of Dr. Kwon, who has been really helpful for me as well.
Thank you Danny......very helpful. You've added 20 yards to my drives and I haven't even tried it yet!
ОтветитьWithout doubt, this is the best video I’ve seen on using driver. Put this into practice today and it all just felt effortless but with improved accuracy, swing speed and distance. Averaging 240 but a few went past 250, not seen those distances very often! Cheers Danny!
ОтветитьWhat hitting mat are you using?
ОтветитьSo glad i found this channel. Thr lessons are easy and concise and very easy to transfer to the range . Thanks Danny!
ОтветитьWonderful and very helpful video!
ОтветитьHi Danny how wide should my stance be ?
ОтветитьI want a lesson from Danny Maude. I’m a plus 2 handicap and played mini tour events but my biggest issue is my driver distance and the negative mental thoughts that come with being out driven by 50-60 yards by majority of the people you play with. Over time it wears on you. No matter how you are playing in relation to par. I’ feel like I have tried it all. But I know for a fact I get very armsy quite easily under pressure
ОтветитьThe best video yet Danny
ОтветитьGood basic videos but mostly no wind in them try a similar with wind coming from right to left and see what happens in scotland most times its windy playing the game
Ответить
