Just sent off on ebay for 2 signed copies of Deborahs New book for my elder Grandaughters christmas presents , am sure that they will love these as one is an avid reader and another at college and hopefully some good wise words from Debbie, good video.

Great idea shocked it hasn't been done years ago or if not a book just something yanno it's really poor our school curriculum and the absolute shite Weare taught as young uns

Don't forget your family for years while you are building your empires, which you say is "for my family". A good balance between work and family is necessary.

My one friend said his father was never home and was always working. They even seldom went away altogether as a whole family for holidays. He said his father had a very successful business, however said that for years his mother was lonely and he and his siblings would have valued having more time with him than all the wealth. There needed to be a balance between family time and work.

Thoroughly enjoyed this interview. I love how much Deborah laughs.
Love that she cares about things too and that money although important as an enabler, isn’t the be all and end all.

I will watch this in full when I get chance. I like Deborah, she's great. 
The book sounds great, I could see the value of it because I home school and I would say the a huge proportion of our daily lessons revolve around numeracy and the value of money, budgeting, saving etc x

Success comes much easier when you come from a wealthy background. Her parents business was already very successful when she took it over and that is of course where she made her money. Of course, people like this will often not focus on this too much but talk about the other bits instead, especially when you profit from gambling. I would rather hear from someone who comes from nothing like Alan Sugar not yet another spoilt over achiever.

It seems she only became successful after being handed her parent's already successful business. Hardly the climb from nothing to success! That said, an interesting story nonetheless.

well success is never guaranteed no matter what your background is, you maybe provided with the better opportunity but that's not to say a person born into wealth will succeed in the way there parents or grandparents did as they were the ones who put in the hard grafting in the first place.
That being said, each person is responsible for their own life, and there is nothing productive about whining about how life is not fair, and saying comments like "it easy for you to say because your this that and the other". Along the same lines of when Hollywood bigwigs spout about doing good and green minded when they sit in mansions and are able to afford it when disasters happen. We are the same at the end of the day, and we all bleed red, we are born into this world the same way, and we will all eventually come to the end and leave this world and there is no point being the richest person in the graveyard.

I used to switch off Dragons Den not because of the Dragons but the entrepreneurs. I thought they were wasting their time presenting their crazy ideas to people who'd already made it. But now the entrepreneurs have changed and the Dragons are much more supportive and I have switched on again . Interesting interview with the formidable Deborah.

Really pisses me off when people disparage women (or men) in business by saying they were "handed their parents business " or words to that effect as though that automatically means the person gifted said business will succeed. Reasearch what she did with her parents company and how much it was sold for 11 years after she took over. She worked her arse off - and that was after she went off on her own, was handed nothing, and created businesses for herself at an incredibly young age. Wtf have any of you commentators done with your lives that is note worthy? Oh, nothing........😂
