It's so surreal playing the game and starting with this ship and then seeing it built. If only we could have our favorite designs 3d printed.

I wish I had a 3d printer. Instead, I am working with resin and such. I am making my own scale model of the Frontier. I think mine is going to be just a bit larger than your model. It won't be changeable or used for motion. And it won't have lighting effects at first. I am documenting every step and may be sharing the files on the different 3D modelling spaces soon. These videos are fun to watch. And relatable.

Instead of sanding, one can use Minkowski CSG hulls to round the edges to any radius!

Adam, wonderful design and buildI specialize in weathering for Model Railroading and I'm biting my tongue try to hold back and just watch & listen. I couldn't hold back any further, I'm into the 40 minute mark and couldn't hold it any longer. I have to tell you about a primer that I think is better than Tamiya called Stynylrez by Badger Paints. they offer at least 12 primer colours. I have also used these paint for main colour as well. Check them out, I think you'll like them!

I just love this workshop. There is always something to spot in the background. Something from some facet of the nerdom world. Its like a treasure hunt going on in while the video is playing. Even when washing his hands at the end, boom, a random picture of the Zorg Zf-1. Just awesome.

"People are gonna customize it anyway!" - You say that... But so far, I haven't seen a way you can change the colors (in the game), and also parts seem to be rather limited. - I bet they'll add more later in "horse armor" fashion...

Adam... you probably know this. But to stop bleed when spraying a taped area on a model. Do a light coat of your base colour 1st then your actual colour ontop. The vase colour bleeds through and seals the tape, then your top colour covers it. Peel it off to crisp lines and no bleed.

Love this series and seeing the collective enthusiasm.
It's been many years since I've dipped my toes into modeling but something I've tried in the past to help lessen random overspray was the use of masking fluid, commonly known as liquid latex. Apply a light coat to any irregular surface that may be a pain to mask out with tape, then tape over it. When you remove the tape the latex will usually, but not always, pull off with your masking. Any left over masking fluid can easily be rubbed off with your finger or the eraser of your favorite pencil.

Next time if you want to give it a metallic look you can spray paint it with a few coats graphite spray paint and then electroplate that as now the surface is conductive.

In the trailer there is smoke coming from the downward facing thruster pods, if you could incorporate that into the build that would look amazing.
