Pulp Fiction 4K UHD Blu-ray Review | Limited Edition Steelbook

I had the original DVD and it was terrible. Blurry and ghosty, one of the worst quality DVDS I'd ever seen.
Then one day I saw the bluray being demo'd at a store and I couldn't buy it quick enough, the difference was amazing.
I'd always hoped they'd do it in 4k, and that they'd do it right.
Watched Reservoir Dogs last night and it was amazing!

I am surprised that this movie was released in 4K.

If 4-4.5 makes the top 15 UHD disc that says a lot about the state of the media.

Is the blu ray that's included just the same previous release? I picked up the Reservoir Dogs set that came out a couple weeks ago because it was $14 at Target and figured why not? Is that RD release worth it for the blu because the old one was so crappy?

Recently, Quinton Tarantino made anti-Marvel comments again. This time, he claims that actors are not movie starts and instead he said about comic characters (Captain America etc) are movie stars but his collaborator Samuel L Jackson hits back.

Just found out about the 4k release and bought the steelbookand reservoir dogs. Tarantino along with Carpenter are my favorite directors, when a movie of those two gets a 4k release it's a must for me to get.

I think the idea that Tarantino doesn't support 4k or home media spread when he objected to the 4k presentation of "Fistful of Dollars" that was shown at Cannes. But that had nothing to do with physical media (which he himself watches!); he is just opposed to the shift to films being shot and projected digitally, rather than on actual film.

Pulp Fiction is in my top 10 movies of all time, so this is a no-brainer for me, picking it up tomorrow in fact. Surprised to learn that Tarantino isn’t a fan of 4K!?! You’d think he would support a format that preserves films (for home viewing at least) in the best possible way. Why would he not support that? Surely that is better than everyone streaming, not to mention giving physical media a new lease of life.

This is my all-time favorite film. I saw it at the theater & had no idea what I was about to see. Tarantino has been my favorite director ever since.

Got in on the way delivery tomorrow can’t wait reservoir dogs and pulp a month apart can’t complain!

If it were up to Tarantino, everyone would have a film projector in their homes to watch this, or it would just never leave the theater.

But 4K HDR is so good that there's not much left to give film an advantage other than nostalgia or being a purist.

Does Tarantino really hate UHD? I know he's very passionate about shooting on film, but I've never heard him of him publicly trashing the format or anything.

Is the Blu ray remastered?

I kinda think if you are doing a top 10 list you have to include the quality of the movie. There are some great quality audio and video releases this year of really shitty movies. Just saying. I'm not referring to this btw, I love all of Tarantino's stuff. I just feel like if Pulp Fiction on 4k is halfway decent it deserves top 10. I might start in on this whole hobby and posting reviews. You do an awesome job by the way. Keep up the solid work.

Super happy with this release as well as reservoir dogs. so I guess you could say 'We Happy'. Hope we get the remaining Tarantino films on 4K. Like Django and Hateful 8 should look great since those were finished at 4K. the Kill Bills if done right could be a good step up despite being finished at 2K (crosses fingers for 'The Whole Bloody Affair' version making its home video debut). Jackie Brown would, of course, be fantastic and Death Proof even though it's supposed to look beat up and kind of shitty for half the film might be nice as well.

The blueRay looks like it’s in cinema mode, and 4K is vivid on. my Lg C1.
Don’t care what’s better, recommend or what the director intended - save it.
I think I’ll wait 4 it to go cheap, not a huge fan of Pulp

The disc art should of matched the art behind the discs would of been cool

its so odd that tarantino talks about how he watched all tons of movies VHS back in the day but says digital makes him feel cheated

Happy to hear this 4K release of "Pulp Fiction" is a Royale with cheese! The transfer is terrific and a significant upgrade to the Lionsgate/Miramax 2011 Blu-ray (which Paramount recycled and reissue. Even though that was a great release at the time!) Definitely buying this someday!

Apparently Jeff has never been to a McDonalds in his life. That is not a "Royale with cheese" aka a Quarter Pounder with cheese. It has lettuce and Tomato on it which disqualifies it as being a Royale with Cheese. Since the $5 Milkshake is next to it, I think they are intending it to be a Durward Kirby burger served at Jack Rabbit Slims.

My pulp steelbook came today ,the clarity on the 4k is astounding. It looks like how a movie is supposed to look. My old blu ray copy cant compare. I rate it FANTASTIC. And Im only to the restaurant scene. I love it. And highly recommend.

Any word on the Tombstone 4K release?

1. Ronin 47 = Was peed on it ( yellow urine )
2. Batman Begins = Was stepped ( damage)
3. Batman Begins again = Was stepped ( damage)
4. Saw = They sent me the bad steelbook with broken cellophane, scratches overall

Just received Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction both on 4k today as gifts and can say that Reservoir Dogs absolutely had more pop. Both are great, though, and I'm very happy.

Such a shame that Quentin Tarantino doesn't approve of 4K media as a whole. I would've loved to see a 4K disc of Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair some time in the future.

Im new in BR world. So regular for 4K version has the same visual quality as steelbook one?

Watched the 4k today. Absolutely amazing! There were shots with Bruce Willis in the car that looked like it could've been released yesterday. Definitely top 3 of the year for me 🤯

I also love 4K but when it comes to movies shot on film, I prefer the original version. In my opinion the color grading totally takes away from the director’s original vision. For example in that first comparison shot you really get the sense of morning sunshine in a crappy diner, but in the 4K shot it looks like so much of the natural light is totally gone.

To me, trying to make a film not look old is taking away it’s charm and Personality

I love this new 4K release. Its a shame I couldn't get the Steelbook Edition in my country as I love collecting Steelbooks, but nevertheless I love this new 4K remaster.
