Hello! My name is Andy. How are you?
Let's talk about the Burushaski language.

Burushaski is a language isolate spoken by the Burusho people primarily in northern Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan, with a few hundred speakers in northern Jammu and Kashmir, India. In Pakistan, it is used in the Hunza, Nagar, and northern Gilgit districts, as well as the Yasin and Ishkoman Valleys. Due to media and religious factors, the language is influenced by Urdu, Standard Punjabi, English, Arabic, and Persian. Despite attempts to link Burushaski to other language families, it remains classified as an isolate. It has around 300,000 speakers in Pakistan and a few hundred in India, with distinct dialects in Hunza, Nagar, and Yasin.

The Burusho are an ethnolinguistic group native to the Yasin, Hunza, Nagar, and other valleys in Gilgit-Baltistan, northern Pakistan, with a small minority of about 350 individuals in Jammu and Kashmir, India. Their origins are unclear, but it is suggested they were originally from northwestern India and were displaced into the mountains by Indo-Aryans around 1800 B.C. The Burusho are recognized for their vibrant music and dance culture, as well as their progressive attitudes towards education and women's rights.

In the next part, let's listen to the beautiful sounds of their language.

This video is created for educational, language awareness, and language preservation purposes.
