ОтветитьChief Peter Maivia started the Samoans in pro wrestling the father of Alfa, Seka, and their sons, I think Roman Reigns, and Rikishi grandsons along with Rocky Johnson, and his son the Rock, and many others...I think there some great grandsons wrestling now... Probably as many as 20 wrestlers related to the chief....

ОтветитьYou know, I think there has been no greater boon to the dissemination of Samoan culture among the lay-people of mainstream middle America, than professional wrestling. While their depiction (especially in more formative years of the 'sport') has undoubtedly been deeply intertwined with stereotypes and outmoded, archaic, overly simplistic depictions of the Samoan people and their culture, that's to be expected due to both the medium and time period. Furthermore, similar to many "noble savage" stereotypical representations from the 1980's (such as the shamanistic Native American, and Supernatural Martial Arts Asian Master) the majority of these stereotypical characteristics are demonstrably positive, at least with in the contextual boundaries of professional wrestling. In fact, were it not for wrestling, I sincerely doubt many Americans from my era would even have the slightest conception of Samoa, its people, or its culture. So, fallacies and and questionably offensive, albeit positive, stereotypes aside (again, remember, we need to view these attributes via the context of both it's time and the medium of professional wrestling) I think it would actually be difficult to argue against the positive symbiotic relationship that has existed between wrestling and Samoan culture since the 1960's.
ОтветитьLarry Zybisco 250 lbs? Hardly, and Tony Garea is bigger than him and was only listed at 245. Zybisco was only about 225 here or maybe only 220 and Garea was about 230. They insult the people's intelligence by those weights.
Ответитьjohnny rodz!
did he ever win a match?
Frankie William's is good for any other job except wrestling. Greg Valentine could be sitting down for this match!
ОтветитьGotta love, Johnny rodz, THE UNPREDICTABLE ONE
