I spend an hour washing the tires and wheels. If I skip that, still takes me 30 minutes.

No, no no. "A ton of dirt" and no rincing off the foam? Better off leaving it dirty. Sorry.

Something I learned when working at a car wash, Always dry the sunny side first because that’s the side that drys fastest leaving less streaks…

Do you use the same soap for both your foam cannon and bucket for contact cleaning?

If the car is just dusty it's fine, but even with a slightly dirty car, couple of bugs and tars, some red sand stains and it goes up to 45/60 minutes.

I have another method. I don't even use a hose. Bucket 🪣 of car soap and water. Start washing with that but I make sure there's a lot of soap and water on my wash cloth and just start scrubbing from top to bottom. I do this by sections. Once I do the roof, I stop there and before the soap dries I start to remove the soap with the same towel I use to dry it. I repeat until the whole car is done and that's it.

The cars I get are all faded to shit and or have a bunch of nooks and crannies(those rims). The washing is done first, I never hand dry in fear of scratches. Water spot remover is applied next to rid of any spots that linger. I use mist on my hose that’s not on the pressure washer to decrease the amount of drops left behind. I apply wax and ceramics after, I have compound on hand if there is a tough spot, scuff or something that isn’t removed by washing, The plastic trim comes next, all cars I deal with have trim faded to shit or grey looking. Taking multiple goes sometimes to get it back to black again. After the trim is done, the wheels are done, rims and wheels sprayed with a wheel cleaner, then cleaned, and if they are painted, ceramics applied to the rims, or metal, mothers polish is applied(time consuming). Then tire shine is added. After that’s done, chrome time! Chrome gets polished by hand with chrome polish(again time consuming) after that is done, the headlights and tail lights are done. Finally, the windows are cleaned with ammonia free window cleaner to remove any residue from usually either ceramics or plastic conditioners. The inside is far faster. Mats are removed, as well as personal items(exact locations noted so they can be returned to that exact spot after the detail) garbage if any is removed. I vaccum every fabric within the vehicle to the point it’s free of a single particle, change is not sucked up as I remove any and place in the cup holder or where the owner keeps their coins. Shampooing is done after i empty out the vaccum. I apply upholstery cleaner before I take the contents out to dump so it has time to soak in. I scrub it down, then vaccum up the residue. Once the upholstery and carpets are done I can finally pick up a lot of speed. Only three chemicals I need to do this. Plastic conditioner, ceramics(for door frames and hinges) and glass cleaner. I can do all panels on the inside in less than 30 minutes. After that, the mats! Carpets are cleaned with the scrub and vaccum method, rubber or vinyl (these suck so much especially ones with those grooves) are either sprayed with the pressure washer, or done by hand. Finally I’ve finished! I inspect my work throughly walking around and correcting any spot I missed! Your method works well on lightly soiled regularly maintained vehicles. A vehicle that’s not recieved a detail in years if not ever won’t come perfectly clean and without plastic fading with this method. If there was a chemical that can restore plastic on contact and be sprayed through a cannon like this and not leave residue I’d love to obtain it. As vehicles I get are basically shitboxes, farm trucks and family vehicles with years of use that take a long time to bring back the shine one every square inch of it.

I want to clean my car now. lol. I do a very similar wash when on a time crunch except for one step: Instead of a pre-rinse, I foam it, rinse it, then foam it again to start the contact wash. It doesn't take much more time than a pre-rinse would, and I feel more comfortable removing a lot of the abrasives before taking my towel to the car. I also saw a test of someone foaming a car in two halves, one side without a pre-rinse and the other side with a pre-rinse. It showed the side without the pre-rinse left the paint cleaner after rinsing the foam off. The thought was that the water from the pre-rinse made it more difficult for the foam to attach to the dirt, while without the pre-rinse, the foam quickly encapsulated the dirt and rinsed off cleaner. I guess you could call this a pre-rinse as well but with foam before water. Just wanted to throw that out there. Thought it was pretty interesting.

now way that cleaner works with metallic sport brakes. You will have to agitate and need to scrub the tires to get the dressing to adhere. You didnt even touch the tires here.

I've watched a bunch of your vids and find them informative. This vid was linked from one of Avalon King's emails and realized I've already watched it (from my vote). I cringed watching you use the same towel for majority of the vehicle. I've seen this done before but with 8-10 different towels/mitts, one for each panel.

I hadn't washed my car in several months and it's not the dirt that's the problem it's the stuck on little black and orange specs that take for fucking ever to rub off with the microfiber.

Today I was washing the car for like 4 hours! Agreed that blanketing with more foam allows for more breakdown work to happen without me doing work and not using enough soap today contributed to why it took so long, but I have to wonder if there is something I can do, maybe I can use a buffer power tool and just put some microfiber over the wool to help me get it clean down to the paint. Is that crazy? Or I just need to actually just wash it once a month instead of once every 5 months?

There’s no way dude. There’s no way you contact washed every surface, and there’s no way you rinse all the soap off that vehicle. If I did that to my truck, I have soap streaks on my windows. Also when I use the foam cannon on my truck that has the Avalon ceramic coat on it the soap sheets off too quickly.

I have a detailing business on the side and have been doing it a long time and i like some of his technique, but some sheesh... like dont wash down by the rockers and move up to the top with the same rag. There is road dust and debris that get stuck in the clear coat. This can and will transfer onto your cloth and make micro scratches in the paint. Always wash from the top down, as the bottom is usually the more debris filled. With this car, it was pretty much fully cleaned anyway looks like a bit of water spots on the car nothing to bad. Take your time there is no rush.

Didnt think this was possible. Even if it was 30 min that would be real good. I can do it about an hour plus but I do a professional job on the wheels first and after when I put on the dressing. I also have a air cannon so when I finish there are zero water retention or swirl marks. I will also put on 3D Bead as necessary and that takes about 30 minutes. But my hats off to him.

It looks like you're missing places in the haste to do a "10 minute" car wash.

This car also looks like it's pretty well maintained.

In other words, this isn't a typical detail.
