The way you explain everything is so compatable for my autistic brain. thank you so much
ОтветитьYou are good! You know the stuff. Real PRO.
Ответитьso much value in this video! thanks a lot!
ОтветитьYour videos are always great, but this one has been the most helpful to me personally! Thank you for your great tips!
ОтветитьThis is great! Fury is a noodle instantly sparked. "Anger got me tangled" for me.
I'm going to try this exercise more fully.
Hi! I'm new to your channel. I was recently asked to start songwriting. I'm definitely excited and terrified at the same time. I have been watching you now for about a month and I have learned so much. I want to say thank you for all the knowledge that you share!
ОтветитьI have maybe 3 songs written but have writers block for editing, I have no idea where to begin. I know they can be better but like how haha.
ОтветитьI can listen to her all day! I somehow ran into her videos yesterday and I'm so glad I did! Very enjoyable and so darn much talent and knowledge but she has a way of sharing it on a level that even a moron like me can learn so much!!! And so enjoyable to just listen to and absorb what she is sharing!!!!
ОтветитьGreat tips. I need to give these a try because my lyrics are the worst.
ОтветитьWow! I'm still at the second exercise and already mind blown. You make me think, you make me laugh and, frankly, I really wanna give you a hug. See? I'm already writing lyrics, thank you!
ОтветитьSing about pee pee, poo poo, sex stuff and food. Find your "home"
ОтветитьCould this apply to detroit rap?
ОтветитьSome really great tips and exercises here Keppie. Thanks!
I’ve done a short course with Keppie folks and she’s honestly the best teacher I’ve ever had the pleasure of being taught by.
What advice do you have if the little asshole on your shoulder is actually a close family member? :)
ОтветитьTheres so much bad lirycs in popular music today.
Try to finish the song before the feeling that inspired it its gone.
If you have some of the melody then try singing it with whatever words come to mind until you find the right ones.
Good advices. And no 3 is also fun 🙂
ОтветитьI’m looking for links to your songs.
ОтветитьNumber 4 reminds me of the idea in scriptwriting "show don't tell". The idea is create an image on screen that advances the narrative and don't rely on a character saying it. Think of the difference between a character looking out of a window at the rain running down the outside of the glass, dripping off the roof and pooling outside the door. Then think of someone just saying "it's raining". The image is so much more powerful than the words. The image that I picked up on was the water bottle always being full. It encompasses both kindness and diligence. It's not a one off event. It has persistence. And it is an incredibly intimate. It is such a personal thing shared between two people.
This video has also got me wondering what goes through the mind of the elephant in the room. Does it wonder why everyone is ignoring it?
I think you have to cherry-pick from these videos. Trying to follow everything in them would cause one to bin it.
It doesn't explain Neil Young and others who just strum chords and the words slowly come out.
more people need to discover this woman
ОтветитьYou're way of explaining everything is really catchy and understand. Thank you.
I'm not a writer or song writer. It really makes me excited to be able to come up with amazing lyrics or sentences. However, I can hardly match things or pick up ideas no matter how much i try. But I often write down things that comes in my mind. Is there any way of sharing few things that i wrote with you?
Thank you! I will definitely be trying out some, likely all, of these exercises. Watching this video makes lyric-writing seem like something fun to do, rather than a chore. Exactly what I needed.
ОтветитьThank you so much for this very inspiring and uplifting video :)
ОтветитьHaha I like the analogy about the asshole and helpful guide.
Ответитьwhoops didn't mean to be offensive, guys - I have the utmost respect for you
it was just a meme reference from jurassic park remember ;P, but hey anyways thank you guys :))) sorry <3 much love and respect, bless xx
I still really really would love to know methods for less somnambulistic lyric writing, more in line with chris stapleton, if you guys would have me, love your channel so much!!! - bless xx
awesome, this channel is the BEST, thank you
this whole channel, thank you guys :))))) <3 <3 <3
<3 <3 best channel :)))
My writing rule: only sing your lyrics. Do not read aloud like a love poem.
Ответитьyou are so good at explaining this, I wish you were around about 50 years ago I could have been a contender.but who knows maybe I can still leave a good one behind.Good stuff thank you
ОтветитьGreat video! I have a silly saying: "some songs I write and some I fight". My best songs usually fall in the middle.
Ответитьi'd like to meet this helpful guide of which you speak. i know the other prick lol...
ОтветитьSince the mean inner critic is also lazy, starting early gets work done before he is awake. :)
ОтветитьMy Inner Jackass has been doing the ‘Mourning Pages’ for >20 years. Once he’s got his brilliant, profanity laced, insights (i.e. nonsense) off his chest, I can get on with my day for a while.
ОтветитьYour enthusiasm and commitment to helping others is totally infectious and inspiring. It has honestly changed the way I think of myself as a musician and beginner songwriter. I hope it never stops because I just want to continue to follow it and learn every day., So many thanks.
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьGood God,, blah blah blah blah
ОтветитьThis was fun to do. I was skeptical about a channel called how to write songs but honestly you have a lot of helpful stuff to try!!!
ОтветитьNice!
And haha to the little a
On the other hand too much crafting like this will make you sound like “a professional songwriter” of which there are too many already. Boring people write boring songs no matter how hard they study. Curiosity is a songwriter’s best friend.
ОтветитьI ❤ your ‘Run towards the schlock’ advice
ОтветитьWow, that's exactly what I needed, really appreciate it
ОтветитьThe little a-hole says this is crap. That was hilariously literal 😂
ОтветитьI always struggle with the second verse curse... always.
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьExcellent lesson - thank you. For me, lyrics are the toughest part of songwriting. I can come up with chord progressions and melodies all day long.
ОтветитьWow. Great tips thank you!
ОтветитьExcellent!!! keppie I'm beyond stoked finding this community and can't wait to join the songwriting group, ofc I'm waiting to get better first, most likely a silly counter intuitive idea., I stayed up until 1am doing all these exercises! Can't wait to see you Oct 21!
