Monchengladbach wasted no time in Matchday 3 to get the scoring going with goals coming in the 8’ and 17’ by Alassane Pléa and Christoph Kramer respectively the German side jumped out to a commanding lead early on. Monchengladbach wasn’t done there, in the 26’ Plea put away another chance to secure his first half brace and push his side out to an even larger lead. Then to essentially wrap the game up in the first half, Ramy Bensebaini put an exclamation mark on the first half with a goal in the 44’ he was able to beat the keeper to a deflection and fired it into the back of the net.
Monchengladbach would go on to flex their muscle over Shakhtar Donetsk in the second half with a goal in the 65’ by Lars Stindl and Plea capped off his hat trick in the 78’ to seal the 6-0 win.
After taking down Real Madrid, Shakhtar hasn’t been able to find any type of offensive rhythm. They have been outscored 8-0 since going up 3-0 on Real Madrid on Matchday 1.
