Gonna hit my first deadlift today, wish me luck.
Ответить"penicillin" 😂😂😂
ОтветитьI'm going to try to not be very disrespectful, but why do you even do deadlifts??? It's a popular thing now but it never was recomended by anyone plus it's relentless with your spine. Just because biomechanics, Mr kapanji already determined how dumb of an exercise it is, and the main muscle group that's being worked are the spinal erectors which in terms of hyperthophy, they don't grow very much. It doesn't matter that your technique is good, once you are lifting a weight you cannot control (like in 1-5RM) your back has to bend and you will likely not get a warning soon enough. I've only seen low IQ people or begginers doing this exercise, imo it should be banned from public gyms so people stop hurting themselves.
ОтветитьI always knew I was a very good Puller, I have a nice ape index , normal to tall height and short legs (becuz I was borderline anorexic as a kid and i didn't grew as i should) but in comparison with my friend who is a little bit taller than me and has a less gifted build but builds more muscle size than me and has super strong legs and hips and he slaps the shit out of my deads. But I stil loves it and im almost hitting a 2x bw deadlift for reps in my 2 month of doing deadlifts (I have a longer history on the gym) so I'm confident
ОтветитьScotty kill me. Cameo
ОтветитьHoly s*** I'm sure my student loan payments doubled after that
ОтветитьSUMO IS CHEATING
ОтветитьIve never understood how leg curls translate to a deadlift when they are the opposite motion for the knees?
I know that hamstrings are active for both knee flexion and hip extension, but surely its different parts of the hamstrings for each?
The box A or box B bit had me on the floor lol
ОтветитьBromley I didn’t see any videos of myself in here. I give you full permission to clip mine 🙂🙃
ОтветитьT rex crew reporting in
ОтветитьDeadlift was and still is my favourite I trained deads 1 a week leaving 10% in the tank at 21 6'2 262lbs I did a PB of 880lbs no not natural
Ответитьi have a colleague at workwhose like 75% torso and long arms, he's also built like a brick shithouse and i can only imagine how his deadlift is gonna become now that he's training
ОтветитьThank you so much
ОтветитьDamn good this guy..
ОтветитьGood job here. I would also add that the ape index ratio is measured to include the shoulder girdle. This means that a narrow shoulder structure can lower that number when the arms may still be long or vice versa. When fighters get their reach measured, they usually measure total wingspan, but sometimes they measure an outstretched arm from the body and then double it. This more accurately shows how far they can “reach”. Deyontay Wilder is an example of someone who has very long arms, but his shoulders are normal to narrow comparatively so his reach is 4.3” longer than his height (6ft7). Sonny Liston was an example of having both, so his reach is 11” longer than his height (6ft1). If your interested in the highest ape index ratio in the UFC at least, it’s Kevin Lee.
ОтветитьThere comes a point where people can't progress anymore, and everyone's limit is different.
ОтветитьI listened to my coach and did it the normal proportioned way, and now my back hurts, lol. I should have known not to since my arm lengths are just longer than my height
ОтветитьI run xc and deadlift 170kg!
Ответитьjust stumbled on ur channel and your makin the content that keeps my mind running 24/7
ОтветитьI just want to say that this is the most scientific workout channel I have seen so far. THank you for the knowledge.
ОтветитьMy problem is the opposite: I started with RDLs and had a great time, then switched to regular deadlifts and encountered nothing but problems. Even now, months later, I deadlift only about 2/3-3/4 of my RDL weight—for fewer reps, too. Back pain led me to switch to sumos, and while that improved the pain, it didn't fix the problem entirely.
ОтветитьI have long legs, a long torso, and an ape index of -4. I love deadlifting, and honestly I’m able to put my numbers in perspective, what is mediocre for most guys my size is pretty ok in my mind, because my horrible leverages mean I probably need more actual strength to pull the same thing… now when it comes to boxing, I haven’t exactly found how I’m gonna cope quite yet (maybe by switching to kickboxing lol)
ОтветитьInteresting stuff, and way too complicated for my tiny brain. I just just do a 3x5, (@315 as I'm a tall, old lank) feel a little light-headed and somewhat bloodshot, and then do some light RDLs two days later. Granted, I'm not training for a competition other than strongest web developer, which is a bit like being the world's tallest midget.
Sup stack is creatine, Hydro20 (can't live without it!), and ham and eggs with Dave's Homicide Loaf.
bald
ОтветитьDon't hurt your back
ОтветитьI think I have short upper arms as in bicep to elbow joint is tiny compared to my elbow joint to the tip of my thumb. Maybe long legs ? Short torso. I’m only a 5’5 male. My deadlift with no experience is 347 lb. No pulling slack out of the bar. My squat is about 275. Bench 230 about. I suck at deadlifts.
ОтветитьOne minute in and I already resonate so much with this. The amount of PRs I’ve had after a night of drinking vs the amount of times I couldn’t even come close to my heaviest pulls despite a good diet and a good nights rest. Weird man!
ОтветитьSuperb insights!
ОтветитьHaha was that John Lovell?
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьHow do I rdl or good morning without back pain, I've never had a set that didn't end in an uncomfortable ride home
ОтветитьI have short arms and long legs… I have stranger leg curls/nordic all my friends but deadlift near the bottom of the pack
ОтветитьDeadlifts are my favorite.

I learned a lot from watching this video thank you so much for the great advice! My DL has always seemed to be limited by my hip strength. I have narrow built hips and am naturally skinny. Weight in at 140 before I started lifting. Currently weigh 200 lb in about 6 ft tall but still continue to struggle with narrow weak hips. Running seems to help out quite a bit with this but I don't want to be running all the time as it's working against my gains. You have any suggestions that could help me out? Thanks!
ОтветитьYou build through body mechanics on this one. I used just do the bird drinking water thing.
Funny cuz I have a wide wingspan. My fingertips almost touch my knees and I have short legs... maybe 6hats why it was so intuitive for me... I do have a bracing issue and went very slow and never build mass... when I did it hurt my back really bad. Hard to keep it stable and too easy to lean into 1 side to "wedge" and now tight ass psoas. Now I get to learn again at 46. Not going for mass again. My stability at 140 was insane.
I do one set of 5 every session. It is basically high intensity but I am not straining super hard and could lift more. And I have been doing 3 sessions per week. Hope I am not over doing it. I am still a novice and am pulling only 170lbs atm.
ОтветитьI'm built to deadlift and my pull has always been bad at building itself. The mechanical advantage and necessary loads cause way too much fatigue for any given stimulus. Part of it is just inherent to the DL itself, lacking an eccentric and having a relatively mediocre ROM for the involved joint movements. Front Squats+RDLs have always been vastly more efficient for me. Still gotta pull heavy at least once per week just to keep neurologically sharp and remind the erectors what it feels like, but not for anywhere near the volume required for real gains.
ОтветитьSolid vid, great writing
ОтветитьWonderful video, thank you for putting this out there for the world of lifters who need it
Much love
Absolute best video for the absolute best exercise ever
Ответить👌💪👍 perfect Description Bro.
Ответитьromanian deadlifts for 8X315lbs??
... god i want to die
Absolutely neutral ape index lmao. 178 cm high 178 cm wingspan.
ОтветитьToo much whitty sht. Just pick up weights and put them down til your tired. Then do it often. Weightlifting. Deadlift not necessary.
