Had a genderswapped situation happen close to me. Husband had some form of aneurysm, and they had been actively trying for over a year. Wife asked if this could be done, and the husbands parents also agreed that that is what he would have wanted.
Doctors said firmly no. They would have done it if he had given written consent before he fell in a coma, but they were not gonna do that when they couldnt get consent from him. He passed away shortly after.

I understand the grief and frustration in being told no, "should you continue trying for a baby between us if i die" isnt exactly a conversation people have when they plan to start a family, but proceeding to harvest genetical material for reproduction on someone without their consent... no, never.

I can’t imagine it’s even legal. You can’t have a procedure (that’s not related to the diagnosis) done on someone, I mean you can’t ask a doctor to sterilize your spouse, so what’s the difference? I see the hospital getting an advocate for the wife to fight in a court of law.

Even if, and that’s a big if, she wanted to have children with him. Who is the say she would still want that in this situation?! like yeah it’s one thing to say you wanna have kids with someone it’s a whole other thing to say if I’m brain dead I want you to impregnate my basically living corpse so I can become human incubator for our child that I will never get to meet

Yeah he could also be a controlling narcissist and he wanted a baby and she played along but didn’t and his the fact she was on a IUD and there implanted and not oral so how would he know? Why wouldn’t she express her wants to her husband and be honest?? except fear he’ll leave her or something worse. Who knows and no woman brain dead should have a baby harvested against there will unless you swing over power attorney to your husband and make this type of decision.

I can kinda see why he would be like that. It is morally very gray but it won't affect her anyways. But then again maybe she didn't want a child because she don't want her genetics roaming around (i have a friend who thinks that way, i can't really relate but big respect) so idk, it's confusing

I have heard of real situations where women have had some type of birth control put in only to completely forget about it. That could be the situation in this storyline. Farfetched I admit but like I said I have herd of that happening.

Did no one watch the video she said she was using birth control and just wanted to make the husband happy at the same time don't lie to your lover she's in the wrong buuuttt if your lover is in a horrible situation to the point of death your first reaction should never be to try to have the child yourself maybe she did want a kid and probably wants to raise it together you shouldn't choose for someone who can't even respond they are both in the most worst wrong

I don't care if your a man or a woman you should be promising one thing and doing another. It's emotional abuse. And yes maybe the man was actually abusive but we literally have no evidence or any indication of it. For some reason a lot of the comments think the lady was on the right for lying that's just sad to me. I've had both male and female friends that have had this type of thing happen to them. I.e. the guy had a vascotomy and didn't tell or in other cases a woman who had kids but they weren't the fathers or were secerely on birth control. Another disgusting thing a lot of people do is intentially go off both control to baby trap people. It's abuse and there is no good reason for it. Based on the information this episode gave us the woman was 100% emotionally abusing the guy. I still don't agree with the husbands descion because why even bother with a liar but that besides the point. Considering how many people lie to their significant others like this I doubt their was a just reason again the most extreme is that the guy was abusive but there are many more likely reasons she would do it.
