2022 Audi e-tron GT Quick Review // Smooth Operator

Range is not really an issue for me with my Etron GT, I have a home charger and for everyday commutes, shopping and occasional medium distance leisure trips its fine. I have great apps that show me how to plan a long trip even where the fast chargers that are working and available. I have zero road tax in the UK where my A7 was £570 pa. It costs about £7 to charge at home. The car drives like a dream and everybody, yes everybody, loves its looks which is more than you can say about the Taycan. BTW and in my opinion the Taycan front end is more Toucan! Its just plain weird looking and the interior is trying to hard to be futuristic but not in a good way. So the Etron wins hands down for me and its why I chose it as my first EV. I am happy.

Lucid's range really makes a difference when it comes to longer trips. It does away with range anxiety.

This is too expensive for what it is. It's the same starting price as the Porsche. Yeah I know Porsche options, etc, but when you're in the $100K+ range, better to bit the bullet and spend the extra $10K on options or whatever and get the Porsche Taycan.

Artificial sound and artificial torque buildup… I don’t know how I feel about that. Seems like those things are “transitional” skeuomorphisms, put in just to ease late adopters into the world of EVs. We’ll probably laugh at the idea of doing such things in a decade.

how the hell can Audi make a 130 grand car in 2022 which does not have a heated steering wheel??? a freaking VW Golf mark VIII (2022) has heated steering wheel as standard... like wtf... 😯

This review is basically a group who decided "i dont think this is better then a tesla" or a lucid, then got in the car. This car is not range but more fun. sitting and bashing on the range is them not understanding the concept of the car. piss poor review imho. Carwow and autotrader did much better

I test drove this car, and it just felt like a very nice automatic petrol engined car. For good and bad reasons. A software change like that should not cost that much for an RS. Servicing cost on electric cars shouldn't be expensive either but rumor is that it's just as expensive as combustion engine cars.

I just don’t get it, you have half as many charging available stations compared to a Tesla, it’s slower, has less range, and is twice the price. Why would someone buy this?

Model 3 Peformance is about $64k. Audi Etron RS GT is $142k. Almost identical 0-60. At some point these German EV’s are either going to have to find a way to get better performance than Tesla or lower the damn prices because it makes no sense. Model 3 performance also has more range than the RS Etron. Significantly more. Shit it has more range than the normal GT Etron. New car, same story. You pay almost $100k more for same performance, worse range, and a much much much shittier charging network. These tesla alternatives just don’t make any sense right now imo.

Wayyyy too expensive. Every Tesla alternative that looks good and is quick ends up being the price of a house. Too bad

I can do 470 km easy in the summer and 370 km driving fast! So what is the proplem with range?? In holland i can charge it in 18 minutes at a speedcharger…. And they are all over holland. For me the best car ever…

EV powertrains make sense and should be an easier transition to me for sports cars or large SUVs since they already have decreased range because of high HP engines. I thinking for those with weekend driver sport car or Soccer Mom with around town errands with a large SUV type.
