Japan can be summed up as strict and orderly with a pinch of compassion on top, I don’t know of any other place in the world where the authorities would leave a message stating the plate number of the vehicle towed and it’s location

I live in Canada and the powers that be have decided to upgrade a MAJOR freeway (the trans canada highway) that runs smack through the middle of the city for some reason. As part of my job I am lucky to have to endure driving the entirety of this construction zone, back and forth, 8 times in shift. They have been working for 3 years on a single 2 km section of the "freeway" for that entire time with little to no sign of progress. It's rare to see more than 4 or 5 people doing anything to said construction project.

I got to visit a much more up to date version of this in Tokyo in 2019 and it's pretty incredible. There's nothing that can happen on any major road without them knowing about it and addressing it almost immediately. Compare that to here in Canada and it makes us look like a third world country, which we basically are in so many ways compared to Japan.

Imagine discouraging cars, things that take up a lot of space in a place where space is a premium, are very noisy and polluting, and where tons of people want to be.

I’ve always been impressed with Japanese efficiency.

Can yo imagine how upset the right wing would be in Britain if Sadiq Khan decided to clean up the Streets of London in an equally efficient manner. Fhe likes of Clarkson, Farage and Fox would be out there crying like babies and holding sit down protests in the road just like Just Stop Oil.

In the UK if you call the council about a car blocking your drive and you can't get out, you get put on hold for 35mins before being told "Oh sorry it's a Sunday/bank holiday, there's nothing we can do. Have you tried knocking on the neighbours and see if it's anyone's?... No there's no one to ticket it either."

I’m Japonais. I have never seen a car been towed away until seeing this vid. So, they don’t do this much nowadays? I was born in the 2000's and I guess this vid probably takes place in the '90s?

I love the Japanese but id make a suit of samurai armor out of hundreds of those shame thingys and I'd walk around town yelling "shame! Shame! Ding ding ding!"

At least they write with the chalk where the car has been towed. In India, they just tow away, and you have no clue where. Not to mention I'm comparing current day India with japan 14 years ago
