So basically Chevys new design is almost exactly the same as my 1996 BMW 740I?
ОтветитьStill sucks cuss it isn't a manual tbh
ОтветитьJust get both
ОтветитьWell Done, you definately did it justice. What a rocket ship.
ОтветитьThey just connected 2 sportbike Inline 4s together essentially lol.
ОтветитьI bet they twin turbo charge or add a BAB big ass blower ( thats what they called the blower they installed on the 2019 ZR1). to this engine , when they come out with the ZR1 or ZR2.
ОтветитьGM's Direct Injection engines are trash.
ОтветитьShit looks like a ferrari engine
ОтветитьI think this is supposed to supersede the original 1990-1995 LT5 found in the original ZR-1.
It was also a DOHC V8, however that was a regular cross plane crank. But they’re both marvels of their time.
With those dual throttle bodies, it seems very suited to a twin turbo set up. Maybe they designed it with that in mind, perhaps thinking ahead for the zr1 🤔
ОтветитьWell with that engine the car needs a roll cage, and the driver as well as the passenger should have a racing suit, a helmet, and a HANS device.
ОтветитьGM absolutely nailed it with the C8. This new engine is incredible!
ОтветитьGreat video, all except for the fake space actornaut program mentioned.
ОтветитьGo away Three Six
ОтветитьDid he say four or five cams? I’m not sure about injecting fuel straight into the cylinder. Injectors will already varnish and clog from just every day driving. Gasoline still has oil in it and it will burn a little nasty.
ОтветитьBoth of the crankshafts in the pictures are flatplane. It's just that the asymmetric one is from the GT350 mustang

ОтветитьThere was no valve drop issue. GM investigated this to the nth and couldn't find a single instance of it. The most they found was a batch of heads with mis-machined guides that was more noisy than usual (but fully functional). They covered those under warranty and made good on them. The LT4, LT5 and LS9 all use the same valve guides, yet nobody says anything about them. That's because there's nothing wrong with them. The valvetrain on these engines is noisy to begin with and it sent a lot of neurotic owners over the edge.
ОтветитьI hope gm performance made twin turbo v8 for new ZR1
ОтветитьFix whatever? lmao
ОтветитьIt odd it makes more horsepower at less rpms and more torque at high rpm (not sure those are actually factual numbers). Usually the opposite. As an engine guy, this one is really quite special, especially for a GM factory engine. Can’t wait for some forced induction.
ОтветитьI’m sure GM will find a way to F up the manufacturing.
ОтветитьAnyone else noticed that when he talked about the crankshafts, he showed a normal flat plane crank without counterweights as an example what crank it does NOT have, and showed a picture of a technicly flat plane crank with abnormal design, that does require counterweights as clearly seen as an example for what crankshaft design it has, even though it has the normal crankshaft design. He even said the crankshaft in the LT6 does not have counterweights. The flat plane crank that he said it has but does not is actually a flat plane crank from a V8 by Ford, in which performance was sacrificed for sound.
Ответитьso much misinformation it’s crazy
ОтветитьOne rectification: the Tremec eight-speed dct on the C8 Z06 have code: M1M and for C8 Stingray the Tremec eight-speed dct have code M1L , so there's any differences and the new LT6 engine have IVLC Technology ( Intake Valve Lift Control included first time in Chevy Impala) it's similar like i-VTEC Honda's system.
ОтветитьGM fan boys were complaining about the coyote massive heads…….hint hint😅😂😂😂
ОтветитьSurprised it wasn't called LT5 to pay homage to the C4 over head cam motor.
ОтветитьWill GM ever make a manual transmission for the C8?
ОтветитьI can't wait till somebody Strokes one and makes it a 427 you're probably talking a thousand horsepower and probably 900 ft lb of torque!
ОтветитьI am surprised that they made such an engine while various regulations were being enforced. Great effort!

Ответитьwhen ever they decide to sell as a crate engine sign me up for the 4 yr wait list i got a bel air ready for it
ОтветитьNice work Gary!
ОтветитьThe image of the flat plane crankshaft you used is from the 5.2 Voodoo from Ford. That was the only car to use that flat plane crankshaft design. Ferraris and the LT6 use a different design.
ОтветитьLT 6 engine in a Camaro please Chevy that would be 250 GTO. I understand you guys are scared of Aston Martin.
❤ Toyota Corolla GR❤
Early Cadillac V8 engines used flat plane crankshafts, so nothing new here
Ответитьthis is what you get when you steal everything from a Ferrari engine You get an american made Ferrari
ОтветитьThat motor design is not new. It’s reworked and improved but the original design is a Lotus design for the early 90s ZR1s even then. The motors where ahead of their time.
ОтветитьWow! One of the best illustrations I've seen, Chevy should hire you as their spokesman. :) Thank you for this Video.😊
ОтветитьI love the sonic boom exhaust sound that the C8 Z06 has. It's one of those few v8 engines that sound better than most V10s and V12s.
ОтветитьWhen will this be sold as a crate?
ОтветитьYes this engine actually breathes more than it displaces
ОтветитьWell as of right now and LS7 is my dream engine, I love the Max RPM and the power output and just everything and sound about it.
If I can go and buy an lt6 crate engine that my that my put my LS7 dream to rest, I've got a particular general motors car that I'm thinking of with a lt6 it's just a little Pontiac........
What about the e-ray w/ this engine :-D
ОтветитьYou have to love the engineering!
ОтветитьY’all ever think it’s funny how there’s a flat plane crankshaft and the engineering work that goes into cars can also be used in aviation. It’s almost like they’re telling us what we live on.
ОтветитьThey reference the space program, but also give it a flat plane crank as if they’re telling us something
ОтветитьBoth cranks showen were flat plane .
ОтветитьIn less than 2 minutes tell me you do not understand the GM RPO coding without saying you do not understand the RPO coding. L is for engines LS1, LT1, L83 for the RPO coding just like G is for diffs and Z are suspension performance packages Z71, Z28, Z51. The codes are how cars are optioned and built at the factory so they get reused eventually I am sure LS will get reused as time goes on just like Z06 has been reused.
