A History of Phyrexians

id enjoy a Weatherlight chronicles video. i played during that time, but without internet never knew all the details of what was happening during tempest block etc. I always found Crovax cards interesting but dont really know the full picture. Or that i thought Greven and Volrath were the archenemies but it seems only Yawgmoth is remembered so... What were their parts in the story?

I've kinda always figured that the Phyrexians were demonic psychotic versions of the Borg

I hate infect so much more than Phyrexian mana.
I don't care about the flavor, mechanically paying life to cast cheaper or splash a few cards in a deck is not nearly as game breaking for casual play.
Only an asshole shows up to Magic night with an infect deck and the only thing you can do is play a more asshole deck or one that just happens to have the stupid Nine Lives combo in it.
I'm sure in tournament the lower mana cost and better speed combo and splash is actually more powerful, but most of us don't play tournament more advanced than a decent deck at the local game store.
Infect is the I'm here to ruin everyone else's good time mechanic Imho.

Doom Eternal definetly lifted some inspiration from the Phyrexians, Like the deamon relm becomes demonic in the pursuit of immortlity so feels like a direct lift from this lore. Here i was thinking how original the doom lore was 😄

When I first started playing MTG I was less interested in the overly complicated lore and more interested in just playing...but lately the game itself has become less interesting than the lore.

The Phyrexian mana makes all to much sense if you interpreted them literally syphoning the mana from the realms they fight in. Not broken at all considering the other staples we've seen through the years, if anything it just sped up the game to a more Yu Gi Oh speed which isnt bad but different from what we're used to.

I like Urabrask bc it is not too strong but not too weak. Creating a good balance on a card. Also her tapping mechanic can be reversed with a LOT of white cards.

Best video ever (absolutely not)

I mean to say this in a constructive way, when I say I had to watch this at 2x playback speed. If you watch at 2x speed for a few minutes then go back to regular speed, I think why becomes clear.

I may be an outlier here, and it may be my ADHD to blame for it.

When I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me

I just learned that the Phyrexian watermark is the symbol for the golden ratio.

I just got into Magic and these guys are my favorite part of the lore. Setting up a page in my collection binder dedicated to them.

My first deck i ever had was a Simic Infect deck that my uncle gave me and man i loved my Phyrexian Swarmlord that went really well with infect and better in multiplayer games as you get more creatures the more infect counters are on players in total. These days my only Phyrexian deck is Phage the Untouchable and it is a EDH and yes the really over powered K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth is in it as he is the best black ramp spell since you just pay phyrexian mana instead of the black pips turning Phage into a 3 drop 4/4 that kills anything in one touch instead of a 7 drop 4/4 that kills anything in one touch. And sure i could make K'rrik the commander and thus the deck becomes unbelievably stronger like competitive levels but it is tuned to be Phage as the commander

Phyrexian mana fit perfectly because so many players converted to phyrexia for that sweet sweet advantage. Φ claimed the plane, the inhabitants, and the planeswalkers.

I have been really wanting a return of a true representation of Phyrexians in a new set. A bunch of cards with their presence! As a kid they scared the shit outta me the most of all magic cards and were what i thought of as PURE EVIL. they make for a really intense villain in magic lore. Now that i know more about magic and have been playing a long time it would be awesome to see a meta deck in standard that had a buncha cards that fit the theme. Drafting a phyrexian tribal deck with a certain mechanic in limited would be fun as well.

on that not my favorite instant "Snuff out" XD its shame it only kills non black creatures but it kills anything for free that would deal 4 or more damage to oyu :D if you get how i mean to use it XD (bitter revenge is sweet too XD)
