A is the joyo I can her that touch of distortion
ОтветитьJim Lill has a video where he conclusively shows the tone stack is what gives an amp its sound. The tubes and other 'magic' components do nothing to shape the sound.
Combining solid state components with the right EQ (can be done with a speaker or not!) can give you any amp sound you desire.
You prove this here.
A and B doesnt sound the same..why blind testing it if you could not make them sound the same.
ОтветитьA sounds noticeably better to me.
ОтветитьA is definitely the amp
ОтветитьWOW. Nice!
Thank you!
When you factor in price, I think this may be the best pedal that's ever existed.
ОтветитьA is the pedal , which I just purchased. Bought the Behringer TM300, and the Tweed cab is great, but this is the sound I want when I am playing clean. It will look nice patched next to my Joyo Atmosphere :-)
ОтветитьYour all wrong it was C
ОтветитьJust seen the results and I am surprised because not only did I get the answer wrong I prefer the amp over pedal!
Just shows tone is in the ears of the beholder, as much as the fingers of the player😉
Not bad pretty close if B was the peddle because the sound seems to shrink if so lacks a little punch and bite but close
ОтветитьWow, that uncanny ... yes i figured A was the pedal due to proximal transients, but gee they sound similar, ! Joy to joyo.. & i just spent around $2000 on a new fender pro reverb 68custom.. still..
Ответитьis the low mid high = bass mid treble knob ?
ОтветитьA is the Fender. Warmer.
ОтветитьA
ОтветитьA has more bottom and less crisp. If, as others have said here that that is the Joyo, then i wonder if (on the pedal) you dialed the bass back a little and raised the treble, whether you would be even closer?
Also what speaker (and Amp) are you running the Joyo into?
And what guitar are you using?
I use an American Sound that I modded to have a switch that cuts out the cab sim (and in that position I added a cap and resistor to dial back the volume and the highs just a little since its much louder and brighter without the cab sim). I run it in front of my Marshall DSL100HR right before the amp after all my fuzz, overdrives and compressors. I am really blown away how accurately I can create a fender amp sound with this setup (tone wise and breakup wise). The A.S. reacts so authentically to volume changes from the guitar also which is killer. I could run the American Sound preamp directly into the Marshall's power amp bypassing the Marshall preamp but it sounds better to run it into the Marshall's clean channel first in my experience. The American Sound works great with and without the cab sim engaged and it's really a shame that mod doesn't come stock. I build pedals, guitars and amps from scratch and even I found the American Sound cab sim mod to be a pain in the ass. Absolutely doable, just a pain in the ass working with the tiny SMD (Surface mount) pads and the tiny SMD components. If anyone owns this pedal I highly recommend the mod but you should add that cap and resistor to balance each setting a little better (ask me if you want the values I used and I'll check for you). The actual Tech 21 pedal this is a clone of comes stock with the option to bypass the cab sim which is how I was able to figure out how to implement it on the American Sound (uskng the tagboardeffects layout as a schematic). Its not a subtle difference but again both ways with and without the cab sim sound great. But some sounds and situations just work better without the cab sim which can make things less lively when its engaged.
ОтветитьHiss from B gives away the amp.
ОтветитьBought this pedal recently and tested it tonight through a Roland JC-55.......holy crap Batman this pedal is awesome!!!!! Blackface tones both clean and dirty???? That would be a YES!!!! It has a lot more gain on tap than what I was expecting. No, its not a Friedman BE-OD but that's not what this pedal is about. Great pedal and a great deal for $34!!!!
ОтветитьI have one one these in the post. I plan to use it to substitute the poor Fender amp sim in a ZOOM GFX-1. I will turn off the drive (amp) setting in my patches and use Noise reduction without cabinet. The Joyo will provide my clean amp sound. Everything else will come from the Zoom.
Now do I connect it before or after the Zoom?
I then go direct to PA.
Does this sound OK?
B had sounded more natural
Ответитьbamboozled
ОтветитьI like A over B but they both sound great. B is the amp to my ears.
ОтветитьThe pedal sounds nicer to me lol
ОтветитьAt first I thought 'B' was the real amp as it sounded brighter and clearer. But then I realised it didn't have as much of a tonal presence as 'A'. If you matched the EQ better I probably wouldn't notice much difference.
I'm only using laptop speakers BTW so I could be wrong, but 'A' has more oomph and sounds more "real". But they both sound great and I am going to buy one ASAP.
Got a few questions if you don't mind...
How does it emulate a speaker? Are there any digital shenanigans going on or is it fully analog?
Also, because the pedal is emulating a speaker cab (digitally or analog), does that mean you can't use it in front of an amp?
The reason I ask is because you can't really add distortion to a guitar that's already been recorded through an amp/speaker/mic. And running an already mic'd up amp through another speaker is a big no no.
Well, you can but it sounds cack. So if this pedal is emulating an amp and cab, is it best to just use it for DI?
If it can be used in front of an amp, how and why does it manage to still sound good?
I'm just trying to get a better understanding of it's intended use.
Cheers
b is amp
ОтветитьWhat is the joyo settings you used?
ОтветитьIf B is the pedal, I sold all my gears ! 😅😅😅
ОтветитьThis is crazy! my first tought was like "Joyo is A..." but later I said... wait a moment, how A could sound better than B? therefore A must be the original. But you know, crazy things sometimes happens...
ОтветитьIMHO A is the pedal and B is the amp, BUT, A sounds better, it is how I would want the amp to sound, just me.
ОтветитьI thought A sounded fuller and better at first so I guessed that was the amp, but the way B breaks up gave it away. A has a harsher and crispier breakup, its subtle though. For a purely clean tone, the pedal actually might be the winner. Both sound great and I'm sure the pedal works well in a mix!
Ответитьwarning: if you buy this pedal, you will never carry an amp to a gig in your life!
ОтветитьI think A is the pedal, this is a tough one.
ОтветитьI bought an American Sound a few days ago and I'm commenting the videos that helped me to decide. Because it rocks!
Thanks for the incredible blind test!
American Sound is great for direct recording and in front of an amp. I really liked it because of its versatility. It takes pedals great and its own drive knob is capable of heavy sounds by itself.
I really recommend it.
any budget reverb recommendations to pair with the joyo? i think if i get the american sound pedal with a decent reverb that can be my direct tone
ОтветитьHi! I just have a question. What is the difference between a "Preamp" and "Amp Simulator" pedals? I have a cheap solid state amp (Kustom KG112) and I want to have a great tone. Should I buy a Preamp or an Amp Simulator?. TIA
Great review by the way.
A = amp. My guess after hearing A and then about 3 seconds of B. Clearer, in the room, more dynamic, sounds more like the valve amps I've been using for the last 20 years. (But hey, I could be wrong!)
If you only have pedals at a gig you are at the mercy of the sound desk guy for your onstage/monitor volume. A lot of sound desk/PA wombles in smaller venues are tone-deaf techies who fall asleep once they've got things working - there's a reason they only get as far as 2 in the "1,2 1,2" soundcheck. LOL :)
Having said all that, 99% is in the playing, 1% in the equipment, so stop with the gear research and PRACTICE!
The Joyo American Sound is my 'always on' base tone. I like edge of breakup with classic Fender fullness. However, I also like to layer on top either Marshall style cut through or Vox AC30 Top Boost midrange rasp, courtesy of different settings on a Vox Cambridge 50. Modeling has come very far, even in the 'budget' range. I can affordably enjoy making hybrid tones, with Joyo pedals and the Vox Cambridge.
ОтветитьI think B is the real amp because I know he mic'd it and there is just a little noise on that one, while the DI is noiseless. But as far as Tone, I couldn't tell you.
Analog Amp Modelling as opposed to DSP, is really where it's at. I want a 100Watt amp that just has the Joyo American, British and AC built in as channels, then maybe an effect section with tremelo and real spring reverb. Then put the Cab sim on a Line Out/Headphone jack and it would be an unbelievable amp.
It might seem ridiculous, but I use the American Sound as my main always on ‘overdrive’ pedal into a Tone Master Deluxe Reverb. The pedal into a cheap solid state amp sounds great and so does the Tone Master by itself, but the pedal into the Tone Master sounds amazing. So crisp and clean but dirty at the same time
ОтветитьThis simulator will also be sold under the Thomann brand Harley Benton
ОтветитьI think B is the amp, A is the sim pedal. They are close, but B has more upper frequency ring. If not an A vs B comparison, the small difference is not significant IMHO...
ОтветитьA sounds some dirty clippings so I vote A is pedal and B is real amp. Im waiting for result now still video is ongoing
Ответить@intheblues is the pedal connected directly in line?
ОтветитьThat's just crazy! I would've sworn A was the amp. Ordering one now. Thanks for posting this.
ОтветитьCan you suggest any tube pedal / peamp / amp to add to the American sound Joyo for adding the tube dynamic to the sound? (on the cheap side I mean) ps : I play direct in the audio interface
ОтветитьCan i use this pedal with boss me-5?boss-joyo-PA?
ОтветитьI ordered the pedal and sounds cool. I connected it to my main distortion...sounds great. Pls check my vids also. Thanks
ОтветитьOmg this pedal is just the most amazing thing a guitar player can buy for the price!
