It would make a good sidecar hauler. 😂
ОтветитьAnother advantage of boxer motors on motorcycles is the access to both top ends - checking valve clearances AND balancing the carburettors on my R100R takes about 20 minutes, all in.
Ответитьgood one
ОтветитьExcellent video, explaining most of the ifs and whys of that bike. My R18 is, by far and a long shot, my favourite bike. I don’t know what kind of wizardry Beemer did, but that giant elephant is actually pretty flickable on slow speeds. First bike I have that can eat a thousand miles without me being tired.
ОтветитьI have a R18 trans continental…. And I had this bike for over a year … 5 k+ miles …. Best bike I ever had… highly recommended
ОтветитьI can't get over the massive sticking out cylinder heads. It just looks weird. Everything about it makes sense - but it just looks weird - to me.
ОтветитьIt's cool and ugly all at once.
ОтветитьNice bike - except for those funky ass mufflers. What the hell were they thinking with those? Somebody must make something nicer (normal looking) for the bike…
ОтветитьSurely modern v twins can do a sort of ram air type system to feed that rear cylinder more air to make them equal?
ОтветитьI just found this video. Absolutely excellent video! I really really like this bike. I have been looking at it for a while now. Thank you so much for sharing.
ОтветитьGood review
ОтветитьA / the shaft gives a smoother ride !!!! ... Wrong !.
ОтветитьW ish i heard the engine running ☹️
ОтветитьThis is a really quality bike and review.
ОтветитьI have the BMW R nine t 1200cc Scrambler, and on a hot day, on the motorway, at speed, the heat coming off of those cylinders is freaking unbearable! I have to stick my feet out in the air stream to cool them down. But in winter they are a God send, two massive heaters to warm your legs! You take the good with the bad. However the weight of the R nine T is heavy at 230kg, but thats nothing compared to the R 18!
ОтветитьYou want everyone to like this odd puppy.
ОтветитьYou ride what you want to ride. Amen.
ОтветитьGeez!
Your a real smooth talker!
Well what do u want me to do?
Learn to stutter???!!!
Let's also mention gear driven clutch never needed to replace...
ОтветитьR 18. A Piece of Art 🤩 Outstanding.
For touring the whole world go for the BMW GS 1250. Best tourer for any road 😎
My biggest complain about the bike is, that I would love to ride it, but I am 66Kgs at 1.82cm height and I would look like a toddler on a grown-up bike 😂
ОтветитьThis nazi bike looks like shit
ОтветитьHey Adam I really like the r18 ROCTANE, and I heard your comments about heat coming from the engine, I currently have a Fatboy, and your right, in stop traffic or stop n go, my right leg feels like it’s in fire, so I’m,thinking about selling /trading in . I will be also moving to the Phoenix area later this year, so I think this motor won’t fry my leg during the scorching weather in PHX., so I like to hear your thoughts/opinions if this bike would be perfect for hit weather riding, thank you .
ОтветитьSome great info on the bmw R18 , does the first edition have cruise control as standard or as a option?
ОтветитьGood review. I think I will get one. Thanks
ОтветитьThe best technical explanation I've heard. Straight to the point no nonsense even after a year sounds 👌
ОтветитьThis is a different motor my friend to the GS's etc, it a brand new design for the R18
ОтветитьNow I know how the heated seat on my Harley works and why I can't shut it off.
Ответитьwho the hell checks their valve clearance every 6000 mls
ОтветитьMine didn't come with cruise control. 😢
Ответить/no fuel gauge?
ОтветитьI was trying to decide between Indian or BMW. I've had a 135 I, and I love BMW. BMW it is. Beautiful with the boxer engine
ОтветитьI met Tana at Sturgis a couple years ago. She does ride these all over the country. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
ОтветитьI’ve owned more Harleys than I can count. And I’ve owned an RT, 3 GS bikes and K1600 GT. If a Harley owner ever rode one of these, they’d never ride a Harley again. I’ve ridden these R18s, but I was a GSA owner at the time and didn’t want one.
ОтветитьThe R18 motor is just not a bigger boxer motor. BMW engineered an oil circuit within the air cooling pathway to further cool the engine. First time for this improvement and shows their commitment of constantly improving the boxer
ОтветитьI think this thing would look cool with black 12-14" apes. Dont like themuffler pwesonally. I think straight black or chrome pipes would be better...otherwise it looks pretty darn cool. The gas tank/colour scheme is brilliant.
How is this thing for dudes fro. 6'2"-6'6"?
Wouldn't it be better if the krankshaft would be covered to lower maintenance?
ОтветитьGood bike for dudes 5'6 lol
ОтветитьHi my friend I’m a beginner would you recommend this or a Harley Fat Boy
Ответить736
ОтветитьYour not gonna like it if you're used to a harley davidson
ОтветитьThought you were a Harley guy?
ОтветитьThank you!
ОтветитьGood luck on the customizing it. I have found very little offered for the R18 B that I'm looking at. I have a 2023 Street Glide Special that I'm not too happy with regarding the fit and finish as far as durability is concerned. I'm trying to sell that one now as I write this comment and I'm looking at a R18 B at a local dealer that I really like the looks of. The ease of doing the maintenance myself is one thing I'm looking at. I've had VW's with Boxer motors so I'm use to doing valve adjustments on those, although I will miss the self adjusting hydraulic lifters on the Harley. The only other thing I didn't care to much for on the R18 is the motor wanting to lean to the left when the throttle was twisted at a stand still. It's kind of like torque steer on a front wheel drive car but not.
ОтветитьThat bike is the perfect mix of gangster...and look at me I'm a King
ОтветитьMy flathead BMW comes out perfectly. With the cylinder covers too bad it’s a slow poke.
ОтветитьI'm happy to see such appreciation in the states for a German brand and model! 🎉
ОтветитьThe drag bars on my HD gave me a lower back ache. After going through 3 different seats I replaced my bars with apes. Never a back ache since. Upright is the position for long rides.
ОтветитьGreat looking bike I love it shame I cannot afford one.
