Wish - Is It Good or Nah? (Disney Review)

I like how Nintendo celebrated Mario turning 35 better than Disney celebrating turning 100.

If Disney hadn't skipped the love story between Asha and the Starboy, and the villain couple Magnifico and his evil wife Amaya, then I would have absolutely LOVED "Wish"! DISNEY WHY?! 😭💔💢

It’s so disappointing because the design for that goat is adorable

I believe a pop soundtrack COULD work if the story took place around the modern day. I’m not even saying it’s a good idea, but it’s a lot better than putting it in medieval Spain

i think the biggest tell with wish for me is the merchandise. im a doll collector so i end up in the toy aisles a lot and from release to now i have never seen a single wish product missing more than, say, five boxes off the shelf. never seen anybody genuinely considering purchasing a wish toy for themselves or a child. target and walmart simply cannot sell these wretched things. i can't even assume there's people waiting for a sale before buying because the clearance sections look about the same, just with yellow stickers on each box. seeing a toy aisle always being at full stock is a weird thing that doesn't happen unless you have such a nothing movie like wish.

I think one of the most tragic parts of this movie is that all the pieces were there for it to be memorable. Having a pop producer doesn’t have to be a bad thing, but they definitely needed a different songwriter. I also think they should’ve kept some of the original concepts, like how Star was supposed to be a human boy and “At All Costs” was meant to be a love song between Asha and Starboy.

Meh, Once Upon a Studio was the better celebration of Disney’s 100th Anniversary.

Thinking about the concept art makes me physically ill and irrationally angry we were so robbed it makes me want to cry my eyes out so I don't have to watch any more soulless, cash-grabby, corporate-bullshit-ridden movies.

I watched wish at my cousin's house and I am one to like movies that are usually considered bad because I like the lore of them but wish had to many plot holes. The villain it was like they didn't know what they wanted and the main character was empty. I mean he explains why he can't grant it and she claims it wasn't right and then she proves his worries by causing a panic with the star. Kinda wish that they would have sick to an idea and didn't change it it would have been crazy if they would have had the king as the hero and her as a villain to have a point that some wishes are to dangerous to grant. Anyway that is what I got from watching it. It's sad how far we have came from scar and the good villains and story. Sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings just my thoughts.

Wish was the 3rd special released for disneys 100th anniversary last year the 1st was steamboat silly and the 2nd was once upon a studio

I think the butterflies scene during "I'm a star" was a reference to encanto

I am so sick of the tiny cute guy with deep voice trope. Its been done so many times and it got old after the first 5 seconds of the first one. Rather then giving them a distinct personality or traits, they just go with, "Oh my god look at this tiny cute guy. Isnt it so weird and funny that they sound like an edgy 50 year old."

The animation in this film looks so good. Those poor animators.

Now can you not like it? I mean there is alot of this film that looks so cheap. But there us so much thay looks quite good.

The coolest part of this movie are the partical effects.

Magnifico being defeated by the whole kingdom singing to him was rather lame. I would say it felt like a final battle in a Disney Junior show, but that would actually be an insult to said Disney Junior Shows, which were better written than this theatrical released original disney animated movie.

At least scraf understands that magnifico was lying and bullshiting when saying granting some wishes might be dangerous.

Anyway i like the animation of the movie (lots of people think its unfinished but i just don't see it) and i love asha cuz shes really hot and funny.
I wish starboy was canon like every1 else cuz i miss disney movies with romance.
I guess that's about it.

Although I haven't seen this movie something that particularly bothers me about Magnifico is his design. Like in most disney villain's designs they have evil and sinister looking colors like black, green, purple, red, dark blues, and greys. Magnifico has beige. BEIGE. LITERALLY WHAT ABOUT BEIGE LOOKS SINISTER AND MANIPULATIVE. KING MAGNIFICO LITERALLY LOOKS LIKE SOMEONES DAD IN A HALLOWEEN COSTUME.

lmaoo the songwriters only having experience in pop songs make so much sense because Magnifico's song repeats a bunch of lame lyrics, and the same goes for every Pop song ever

I've seen some ppl to see the movie as failed communist propaganda, while protecting the king.

Dunno. For me, king IS a relatively good guy from a country where everyone lives to work without private land and renting(factories aren't mentioned or built... yet? ), while the protagonist performs a color revolution that breaks everything for b_llshit "freedom to pursue your wish is important!!!111" reasons. Not that it's a consequent communist propaganda or a good movie, but surprisingly relatable for a low-effort Disney creation.

I will say it’s my own opinion, but we have not had a good Disney villains song sounds damn Tamatoa I wasn’t shiny I was expecting more villain songs throughout Disney but nope they had to throw that shit in the garbage but mother mercy this movie sucked. The song is literally the only thing holding it back to be a two out of 10 toilets and one out of 10.

The only message I can get from Wish is "don't play lotteries, work for your own happiness" like all the people that got their wish back didn't get it realized, they just got the ambition to actually work on it themselves instead of having one dude decide you either get all or nothing. It's not super deep but there is something of a message IMO
