The ferry you shown in the video was started by an Indian Parsee merchant Dorabjee Naorojee Mithaiwala as the "Kowloon Ferry Company" in 1888.
ОтветитьAnd uk is now complaining about foreign interference from China.
Ответитьsingapore was a formal british colony too, i think we took it a step further by making english our first language. my family & i went to hong kong for a day trip from guangzhou, we were surprised at how long the customs were. you can see how different hong kong is from mainland china...
ОтветитьEvery single one of this dude's videos is ruined by his narcissistic need to insert his face (unnecessarily and profusely) into the videos as if he is a part of these stories. Just awful.
Good video, aside from the narcissism.
Oversimplified: Hong Kong is a region of China, made by tea.
ОтветитьMm the PRC on gaining HK SAR was supposed to let it internally run its own affairs (LegCo etc) for 50 years. Already and only after 1/2 that time, the despotic one party CCP in the PRC has trampled on democracy in HK time and again, showing its true colours. Raise the umbrellas!!
ОтветитьThe british culture is still strong in hong kong, english is mandatory in schools and most students nowadays still speaks it.
ОтветитьWhy focus on the basic history of how the islands became British (partially) and then totally ignore the city it became under British rule and values. I think this guy may well be racist, discuss?
ОтветитьThis video made me miss Hong Kong. Last time I was there was during the protests. I worry that the free-spirited place I love will be different now...

Ответить鸦片战争就是侵略战争,中国强大了应该打回去。让英国也割地给我们做贸易😂
Ответить"Very complicated identities" You're colonized mentally also. What a mess, Britain is going to fall sooner rather than later.

Evil British empire be like: what if colonisation but good
ОтветитьRIP HONG KONG❤️
ОтветитьBritain took Hong Kong from MANCHURIA EMPIRE or QING EMPIRE, not china. You are confusing people that china has long existed before 1912. Before 1912, no such country called China on this planet. Don’t fall into Chinese lies.
Ответить英國不應該拋下我們,現在我們生活在地獄中,懇求你們重新回到香港
ОтветитьRaging war over tea or masala (spices) is to give a reason for the expansion of colonial mindset. Some monarchs tried the religion ideology warfare inorder to give their expedition some reasoning while some updated their methodology by giving solid materialistic reasons in the shape of tea and masala (spices). These lame reasonings are nothing but an actual reason for expanded market and profit for the products of western colonials.
Like Sub Continent (United India), initially they were in awe of indian embroidery and indian clothes but after the occupation they invaded the market and filled the indian market with their cheap clothes and destroyed the livelihood of hundred and thousands of people. First they landed as traders and later became the occupiers and started transporting the wealth of the region directly to their standing capital/center.
Typical colonial methodology!
According to an article from the Los Angeles Times, the highest number of floggings in Hong Kong took place in the early 1980s, when as many as 21 men were whipped in one year. That took place under British rule.
ОтветитьI say we do Australian chicken served on mid-levels range
ОтветитьI love the effect of when cultures meet and what comes out of it. Like the French Colonial architecture in Hanoi, and the Dutch Colonial in Indonesia. The mix is visually interesting.
ОтветитьI’m from Hong Kong!🎉
Ответитьnot at all Asian are culturally grater than American and have IQ 200
ОтветитьFrankly speaking, the vibes of HK feel very similar to Singapore, another British colony where the Chinese make up the majority of the population. Although I’ve been to HK once as a child, didn’t exactly remember seeing modern buildings or a metropolis of some sort, besides from living in a hotel with a great view of the sea.
On another note, I’m a Chinese Indonesian who has a taste for Western and Eastern cuisine, the latter includes the local Indonesian as well as Chinese. It’s amazing that despite having seemingly different cultures, I enjoy both as I grew up with both cultures.
英國佬對香港的繁榮無一絲作用,英國無論從歷史上或今天均是小人做派,攪屎棍,野蠻人
