Ok. So which tires were best from each of the drivers’ perspectives?
ОтветитьCan’t say I could see much of a difference in tire performance from this video. The stock Goodyear Adventures don’t seem to get much respect but I’ve run tons of trails in Moab with them and have never had a traction problem. Never been in the mud but I suspect that would be their downfall. I’ll be needing new tires next year but can’t decide between stock Goodyears, the Wildpeaks or Toyo Open Country AT3s.
ОтветитьKeep the Videos coming - I have since gone from my WK2 to a Willys Gladiator but still respect WK2's (they are way more capable than they look/people give them credit for) - would be awesome to join Prodigal Overland on one of these trips in my gladiator (already completed Peters Mill Run in VA - with less than 250 miles on my new Gladiator).
ОтветитьI’m running 265/65-18 Duratracs on my Trailhawk and after about 10k miles they seem to be holding up well and have been great on the trails.
ОтветитьKO2's were screaming for traction more than the one with stock tires
ОтветитьI run the AT3 wild peaks in a 285/70/17 on my WK2. I love the smaller diameter wheels to get some more sidewall bite.
ОтветитьKinda thought you would weigh in on the subject seeing as you were there .. and the title was posed as a question, like you were gonna answer the question..
ОтветитьAlways thanks for your good movie.
ОтветитьHave the Wildpeaks... very happy.
ОтветитьSo incredible!! Can’t wait to do this one day
ОтветитьHey Brad, what was the music used at the beginning of the video?
ОтветитьWell the stock tires weren't bad at all. Great video
ОтветитьI have 265/65 nito ridge grapplers on my wk2 I've always wondered how they would compare
ОтветитьI run Falken Wild Peak AT3's on my '18 GC Trailhawk. And KO2's on my '98 TJ.
ОтветитьWe have a 21 Overland with Q D 2 and thankfully Q. L., and were wondering how the stock Goodyear’s would do in this kind of terrain. Question answered. We’ll keep em. Thanks for a great video AS ALWAYS! Any opinion on sidewall strengths since you have had a couple of sidewall flats with the Falkens?
ОтветитьI like these videos, but I've been 4 wheeling for over 40 years and always old school, I've had ramchargers, jeeps, toyotas, and fords, and always went by the seat of my pants off road without any outside guidance. When I was younger we went all night long off road and ended up in places I look back today and still don't know how we got there. I have my 2011 hemi grand today and I can see how nice it would be to have a second set of eyes to guide you, but all in all 4 wheeling is about the challenge and how big of balls you have and how confident you are in your vehicle, regardless of whether you're alone or having someone guide you
ОтветитьAnother great video! I was really impressed with those stock Goodyears (don't understand why they get such a bad rap) The Wildpeaks and Goodyears made it look easy! The K02's seemed to struggle to find traction. I'm still running the stock GY on my JGC, waiting to see more reviews on the new Cooper Rugged Trek.
ОтветитьAll 4 vehicles looked to do very well. I would think air pressure would be the biggest factor on that trail.
ОтветитьI was glad mine already had wild peaks on it when I got it cause that is what I would have swapped stock tires for. I really think the K02's are equivalent so it's up to the buyer but you definitely need one or the other vs the stock tire for sure. Even if you don't plan on doing off road they are way better in any inclement weather than the stock.
ОтветитьEvery video you make shows me more of what my TH can do. I swear someday I'm going to do it myself, until then, I'l just let you handle it for me. :)
ОтветитьI'm running the Falken's and they are HEADS & SHOULDERS better at everything than the Goodyear stockers in mud and sand especially.
ОтветитьWere all vehicles using the Quadra-drive 2 system or was any using the Quadra-trac 2?
ОтветитьInteresting video, comparing tire performance! In order to be able to give a fair opinion, one would need to know if they were all aired down to the same PSI? Did everyone have comparable equipment and use the same settings on the computer settings? Did all have the same tire size? How about skills like left foot/right foot, throttle control and experience on the trail?
Over all, every vehicle and driver got to the end of the trail with no major problems. Perhaps, all of the choices for tires were pretty good for the circumstances of this comparison. Any differences seemed minor to me.
The kelvar stock tires on my GC 2019 suck ko2s are next
ОтветитьAnother excellent video
ОтветитьYou have a hemi in that or a 6?
ОтветитьI have the Falken Wildpeak AT3W 265/65/18 on a 2017 Hemi TrailHawk. Came standard with the Goodyear Adventure with Kevlar but I like the Falken AT3W much better!
ОтветитьGreat video. 2018 Trailhawk, V8. Factory Wranglers didn’t do well in Colorado winter conditions. I loved my Falken Wildpeaks, good in snow/cold(3PMSF), good ride. Unfortunately they are only available in PMetric in 265/65r18. LTs are less likely to fail in the field due to sidewall cuts. KO2’s (LT, 3PMSF, 265/65r18) have been a better solution for me.
ОтветитьI have read on the T4R forum about Falken wild peaks have some balancing issue more often so I think i'd go with Toyo or Nitto or Yokohama
ОтветитьThe guy in the green one could definitely work on his throttle control. I would guess he wouldn't have spun so much if he didn't gun it all the time
ОтветитьWell, you asked an interesting question in the title then didn't offer any opinion or discussion on it...
It didn't look like tires made any difference. Is that your opinion?
We found out the next day that Mike in the green GC TH, hadn't really aired down his tires at all on this run. Said he was running 30psi. He slipped a bit in the hills. The rest of us were at 22-ish psi.
ОтветитьQuestion: are all GC trailhawks coming with the QDII ?
ОтветитьI enjoyed watching this. I just bought a used JGC 2013 as first off-road-capable vehicle and your videos give me confidence in my decision. I wish my budget was bigger so I can purchase trailhawk , but all I was able to afford was a Laredo. I gonna raise it 2.5 inch, install shields and new AT tires which I still have not decided which yet.
ОтветитьBFG k02’s 275-75-R16 and they have worked for me but they don’t look like they did so well in this test, as mentioned from others I’m sure air pressure has a big factor. Thanks for the video!.
ОтветитьI have the Toyos on my 20" rims. Haven't been out yet, but soon.
ОтветитьThe 265/65R18 are a good size for the grand Cherokee. I have Kenda Klever R/T LT265/65R18. They are a good inexpensive option for a hybrid all-terrain/max-traction tire. Thick side walls and large lugs. I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit QDII with the diesel.
ОтветитьI absolutely love my landspyder ATs I recently installed on my grand. Tires make all the difference
ОтветитьTires matter but not as much as the ass in the driver seat
ОтветитьThat was awesome!!! Thanks guys!
ОтветитьHow did the Willys do the things it did in WW2 with those skinny knobby tires?
ОтветитьStock tires, nah! ❤ loved the video! For me, I’d take my Rubicon first over the ‘22 Overland. 😊
ОтветитьIt may be impractical but it might be a more accurate test if one person drove all the vehicles in the same manner.
Different lines and throttle inputs may affect how each tire performs.
Maria did the first obstacle the best outa all y'all. Nice and easy. I still have the stock gy on my jgc trailhawk. I'm not a big fan. I had ko2 on my old jgc and wasn't a fan of those either... they are over rated... and it seemed they did the worst out of all of them in this video.
ОтветитьToyo open country AT3. I prefer Bridgestone and will replace with ko2 for next set
ОтветитьSeems as though the ko2 slipped a lot more than the falkens on the other 2 vehicles.
ОтветитьThe trick is to air down, way down. Then try the tires.
Sticky tires are going to outperform others on slick rocks. Mud tires are going to outperform others in Mud . . .
