As a german and someone who is into historical martial arts the mensur always makes me laugh.
If you hide your entire body in protective gear and only leave out one small portion out for the only reason of getting a specific scar to look tough, you might just as well go to a piercer in your area and let him make the cut you want with a surgeons blade.
Truly the logic of a child to connect this with "bravery" or something.
