I've been wondering how anime studios deal with 3D backgrounds, and I think you nailed it. The workflow makes perfect sense.
Build a 3D scene with cheap props,
Create the camera animation,
Export that as an image sequence,
Create keyframes of the moving character based on the camera motion and the 3D scene,
Finish the character animation,
Make a better 3D scene,
Export the new image sequence with that better 3D scene and merge it with the 2D animation,
Compositing to blend the 2D and 3D as much as possible.
I think having a 2D background and very few 3D props would help "unifying" the two dimensions.
Ever wonder what Dragonball would look like if they didn't get rid of her hand drawn animation and just went this route?
ОтветитьYou could have added a shadow beneath the character to help it sit in the space.
ОтветитьI actually like your hand drawn backgrounds. They have a distinct style.
ОтветитьThis is incredible thank you I learned a lot from this video
Ответить👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
ОтветитьInteresting how movies like Puss In Boots 2 and the Bad Guys use these tactics today.
ОтветитьOriginal Spongebob used 3d animation sometimes
ОтветитьI know im kind of late but for the simple technique integration how do they match up the 2d animation with the 3d without seeing the 3d background if that makes sense. thank you so much
ОтветитьFreak of the week my favorite video
ОтветитьI was about to find similar content and this got recommended
ОтветитьOver simplifying 2D and over complicating 3D
ОтветитьI love the deep canvas from Tarzan and Treasure Planet its a work of great passion
Ответитьwhat do you use for 3d
ОтветитьCan you help me for a ediy
ОтветитьThis is always what I've wanted to do, merge these two. Since I even though about going into it as a career, I love the look of almost anything 2d x 3d
ОтветитьRIP flash
ОтветитьThis video is 6 yrs ago... Feels like yesterday
ОтветитьOk
Ответитьgive link of this software
ОтветитьWhy don't you just use blender?
ОтветитьI use 3D usually for set dressing
ОтветитьThanks man. This was the tutorial I was waiting for.
ОтветитьIts weird how this has progressed over just 4 years.
ОтветитьIn 2016, there was a doubt.
In 2021, Babe! Everyone is working on their series.
Me: can't draw a proper stick figure
Also Me: "Hmm very interesting, I'll write this down."
ojala entendiera el ingles
ОтветитьHave you seen the people who animated at Ufotable? Their ability to mesh 3d and 2d animation is insane
ОтветитьYo we need to send this video to the directors of Ex Arm
Ответитьufotable: hold my beer
ОтветитьWhat tool is he using to sketch and animate this?
ОтветитьMappa : Hmm...
BRILLIANT
"Freak of the week" Is by far my favorite animated music video. Finding out now that they used 3D character models alongside the 3D backgrounds has inspired me to try something like that; While Blender is the best 3D software on the market, the grease pencil isn't really suited to my style, though I imagine that a grease pencil from another program would be similar.
ОтветитьRather than layering movement paths on top of the 3d render to anchor the 2d and 3d together, would it not be both more efficient and accurate to create 2 renders, one with a chequered texture on the expected pathway and one for the final product with the normal textures? This removes any guess work, you know exactly where everything currently is and will be going.
Ответитьme realized i got a chrome book: ._.
ОтветитьSNK and ArcSys would rotoscope sprites over 3d models.
Ответить1000th comment
ОтветитьNow we have the Grease Pencil in Blender, which is an even better integration of everything you just mentioned.
ОтветитьI wanted to make something Like this
Ответитьdont
Ответитьcassette girl gon make me act up
ОтветитьEX-Arm could learn a thing or two from this video
Ответитьwhat software are you using?
Ответитьflash is shit
Ответить2d merged with 3d is such a good idea, sucks how most companies prefer to just stick with 3d animation for their big budget movies
ОтветитьDisney had dedicated software that they used to do all this in one program back in the late 90s, they kept it updated and added more capability to it over time until they gave up on 2d animation, and they locked it away and will likely never release it until it's so outdated that it is not useful anymore. they will probably sue anyone who tries to make dedicated software for hybrid animation as an all-in-one package too.
