Kylo Ren vs Rey (Skywalker?) on Star Killer base was one of the highlights of Star Wars Episode 7, and definitely the best lightsaber battle of The Force Awakens. It was interesting in that it was more raw and gritty than we're used to, and that carries over to Kylo Ren's scar and his face injury.

Fans who watched the The Last Jedi trailer or the Star Wars Battlefront 2 trailer noticed that Kylo's scar doesn't match up to his injury from Episode 7. Specifically, it's been moved a bit and now sits over his eye, like Anakin Skywalker's scar, rather than his nose.
