Its funny because in the book Darry slaps him. In the movie Darry straight up THROWS him across the room 😭

Having read the book, I feel like the passing of this scene is TOO fast. Just a few more seconds of the brothers in shock and heartbreak after Darry hits Pony could’ve helped the emotions sink in a bit better. Like after Pony hits the ground we see he’s shocked and about the burst into tears and then see Darry coming to the sudden realization that he just hurt his baby brother, as he quickly apologizes Pony just takes off.

I watched this movie in around 7th or 8th grade when my class was readung the book. I forgot about it until just now, a month away from graduating. Such a sad movie but it's still so good.

He was yelling at him out of love not being so mean. He just got so carried away. He was angry because pony boy came home so late. He was scared to death. Because he didn’t know where he was and thinking something had happened to him. When he hit him. He didn’t mean to hit. When he told Johnny that Darry hit him. He did let him know that he would be hit by him then his parents. Pony boy did get into thinking that he was right. He just decided just take walk to cool off then go back home. That is when they get jumped by the Socs.
