Brubeck Quartet Time Out Album

Looking out my trailer park in Apache Junction watching the crack.hoes walking by and listening to Take Five by Mr. Brubeck and friends ethereal experience.

Did anyone notice the left and right channels are reversed? Take 5 drums should be on the right side.

My eighth grade public school music teacher played this and got me interested in jazz. Now I'm 71 and still love this album. Ive never been able to get in touch with this teacher to let her know the positive change she made in my life.

Ok, so I’m (relatively) new to Jazz, and tbh I still think some is just chaotic nonsense. But THIS is incredible ❤ Came for Bill Evans, staying for Dave Brubeck!

I love this album..the artwork is stunning too....

Even though I'm only 64, I can remember my mom playing this album on the Hi Fi when i was just a kid.....I'm the only one of us 3 kids where it is recorded in my 'baby book' Dave Brubeck......🥰

Does a master or session reel exist containing an unedited version of "Take Five"? Clearly, there's an edit after Desmond's solo where, I'm guessing, Brubeck played a bit, but either he wasn't happy with his solo or pop radio wanted it to be under a certain length. Mind you: these were the last days of jazz in the top 40.

I remember when I heard this album first time I was 17 working at a movie theater cleaning theaters between shows, I instantly loved it because it was only music and no vocals as at the time I was into "techno" music with no singing....its great to work to and every time you hear something new. I also remember as a kid one bit of one of these songs was used in a PAN-AM commercial.

This was the first jazz record I bought at a thrift store because I loved the cover art & I was in love with jazz from then on.

Count the timing on the songs. Not your standard 4:4. Very complex and yet so melodic and well put together. True genius...

The pianist on this track was a genius. His one solo here literally changed my life. What happened to him?

I’m not a huge fan of jazz but this is something truly special. It makes me want to get up and groove. Dave Brubeck might open the door for me to discover other great jazz musicians.

The incredible thing about this recording is it could have been released today and still sound modern. Timeless.

fark. I used to have this on reel, with a revox b77?-and an otari 5050 with jbl3027s and a classic class B bipolar push pull awwwww yeah. Then I bought the vinyl :-)

I met the quartet- dave brubeck, paul desmond, joe morello n eugene wright when they played together before breaking up in royal albert hall in london in 1968. he asked me if i sing or play jazz. my answer was 'no i just listen. other three also asked me interesting questions. finally dave said, " keep listening son n enjoy. listening with interest is more than half performing - s.k.roy, mumbai, india
