When it comes to using a click track, I always like sharing this story:
One time (ONE TIME) me and a bud warmed up at rehearsal before everyone else got there, we played Shimmy by System of a Down. He got the ipod, played the song for a few seconds and we kicked off to it. We finished the song at the EXACT second the ipod did.
Never happened again. Not once. Use a click
PC forever
ОтветитьMaybe they have a mac version
ОтветитьThats not built by Slick, its a rebranded Clevo Laptop, i recognise the packaging and post screen, still cool though
ОтветитьHi Glenn, Idk how to tell you but that laptop looks identical to the Walmart laptops (and origin and a lot of other brands), usually they are made in china and sell to companies to "customise" them and resell to the prize they want. I hope will be a good product because doesn't look cheap
ОтветитьGood day Glen and greetings fram Sweden, should i join a band even if i have only played guitar for half a year?
ОтветитьTouch screen?
ОтветитьIs an oled screen a good idea for audio production. Given there are a load of elements on a daw that don’t move around isn’t there a risk of screen burn. Looks really cool though!
Ответитьthat laptop look nice, please show us it's performance recording and editing on various daws
ОтветитьWhere is the part with the sledgehammer?
ОтветитьDamn, that's about as good as the desktop I built for my studio. The only differences are that my audio drive is a 2TB 7200rpm HDD, gpu is a GTX 1070, and my cpu is 3.2Ghz but with the same core/thread count.
I'm definitely on board with the idea of an SMG/LTT collab though
You should review their budget laptop for us
ОтветитьPrety insane laptop!
ОтветитьSo how much did this set you back? I'm looking for a new laptop as my 15 year old Dell is starting to struggle, 2gb ram does not go a long way these days! :) also do these laptops come stuffed with all the crap you get on a store bought model, or is it just the OS and Windows?
ОтветитьHey Glenn that thing is killer. Thanks for going over all of the boring specs as it really helped me out. Keep killing it!
ОтветитьJust put a non-reflectife foil on the screen if needed. Me personally, I can't stand glossy screens, even on phones.
ОтветитьCongrats on the new machine! Looks great!
Ответить"wahoow it's so slick" while presenting a slick audio product. If that is not a language element palcement !!!!
You're becoming a pro marketing guy Glenn !
Video of audio laptop used primarily to show photos. Hmmm.
ОтветитьNo XLR or 1/4" inputs and no 36 semi-weighted key midi keyboard?? Not even a midi sample pad?
Seriously though I'm surprised no custom laptop shops have decided to straight up build audio interfaces and midi controllers directly into their laptops yet. Sure it might be a bit bulkier but the setup and tear down time and overall convenience would be pretty cool.
Looks like an epic laptop 👌
thats the power supply from a xbox 360 wtf fuck man
ОтветитьITS A FUCKING GAMING LAPTOP FOR ME !!!!
ОтветитьI wouldn't run anything related to business on a hackintosh; if you must, make sure ya mirror the OS volume and have backups, and definitely lock that shit down network wise, since any security updates from Apple if installed right away will most likely break your os.
ОтветитьOLED on a laptop? Hope there's some kinda warranty...burn in is not fun, especially if you're using it with a DAW or anything really that has static elements like track controls, mixer windows etc. that don't move around a lot. And I doubt that guy "built" it -- he contracted it out to FoxConn or Pegatron, etc. It's probably a customizable OEM model that they already had demos of. Looks like a re-branded Eurocom RX15.
ОтветитьI'm a logic pro X user, so it's either hackintosh or a genuine mac. I had a 2011 MBP that I put dual 512GB SSD and 16GB ram in it. It still works great and is my back up machine. I also bought about a year ago a 2015 MBP (2014, but maxed out specs) with 16GB ram, and a 512GB SSD. It has dual USB 3.0 on it. USB 3.0 has 5GB bandwidth, so I just have 1 port tied up into an Anker 6 port USB 3.0 (powered) that runs out to dual 1TB SSD's in an enclosure. On ebay with 3 year warranty, I got this MBP for $1250. Could you get it cheaper? Yes, but I also wanted something reliable and with warranty and the seller is 'fleetwood macs' (lol).
My point in all that is it's a very very powerful set up, and I've done 16 tracks at once no sweat while running Massive synth plug ins, etc. My 2010 couldn't quite do that, so it's used for plugins and the tracks are bounced out to the new one. Looks like this slick audio would be just fine, but damn expensive.
In case you're curious this is straight from the about mac "MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014)"
Wait, did you say hackintosh? DETAILS. GIVE THEM. NAO.
ОтветитьLooks like minit displayport and USB C on the side. So... thunderbolt support?
ОтветитьThere is probably a Sandy Bridge or sooner Thinkpad laptop that can take up this role, including putting Mac OS X on it. You might want to get expressport --> 1x PCIe for a better ADC but besides that, yeah.
ОтветитьWait Glenn do u use a lab top or tower in your studio ?!?
ОтветитьI've been thinking about getting one of these I'm kind of glad you turned me on to this company I wouldn't mind having this is my main laptop while I have Lenovo as my backup
ОтветитьHow much? Over 2.5 grand easy....and that's reasonable.
ОтветитьIs this the COCKBLOCKER GATE in the back?! Is it finally a thing?! Please say yes! :D
ОтветитьJust out of curiosity, is burn in still a problem for OLED screens?
ОтветитьAbout how much is one like that ? If it’s ok to ask
ОтветитьNice laptop. Looks like a rebranded Clevo. Let us know how the MacOS install goes. The 9980HK has UHD 630 so you will be able to hackintosh it, but unfortunately, no RTX 2070 for you.
Ответитьwhich specific model?
ОтветитьGlen strikes me as the RGB type.
ОтветитьI have a Dell Precision 7720 laptop for audio production. Why is it that I get so much background noise when I connect a USB mixer to it (via USB 3) ? It's not a hiss, more like electric line chatter. It eases off a little if I run off of laptop battery (but the usb mixer is still plugged into the power strip, of course). It's like the power is "dirty". ANY SUGGESTIONS? Thanks for any input! Cheers from Colorado.
ОтветитьFrom what I saw, that "audio production laptop" label is just a marketing trick to make the laptop more expensive. It is indeed a beast of a laptop, but, with a few hours of research you might have gotten a better deal for a similar configuration. Anyways.. May it serve you well!
ОтветитьWell you should have listed all ports in your review! Plus most gamers are using 1440 display port monitors with millisecond response! It might be a better monitor with a Display Port that can do 4K!
ОтветитьThe company is a SCAM
ОтветитьBut how does it differ from other laptops. Why is it good for audio production.
ОтветитьBased on MSI's record you might want to steer clear of their laptops since you mentioned them in the start.. I've had a GT72 6RE Dominator Pro I dropped $2600 CAD on thinking i was going to get a powerful laptop to game on.. Turns out it's a great studio computer with dynaudio speakers.. But that's definitely not what MSi designed or advertised it for.. Try to use it as it was designed and you might make it to see yourself in game before the screen goes neon colors like a floppy disk read error from Windows 3.1 and shuts down.. Really watch MSi when you buy their products. Their high temperatures and insane instability is something that's made them pretty famous lately... Buyer Beware
ОтветитьSo I ordered the biggest laptop they make but they where out of em. Jim called me himself to let me know about a issue with the order and not only helped me find a solution but really made sure i was still getting a top notch product. It really shows the company cares and the internals are really fantastic!
ОтветитьIts just a gaming laptop
ОтветитьRIP MSI..!
ОтветитьThe shirt he's wearing was ahead of its time
ОтветитьSeems to me like a gaming laptop that's discreet graphics have been removed and its still sold at the same price for some of their models and overpriced for what you get if they have a decent gpu.
Ответитьhey glenle love the videos ive been in the market for a new computer im going to check out slick looked into apple to pricey and i fell more comfortble on windows and im thinking of leavaing protools yea avid is like a naging ex wife always draining your money ive been cheacking out reaper awsome daw getting use to the work flow and also been thinking about cubase keep doing what u do u keep it real not like the product whores walking ads on you tube
