Hopefully this one was a good one. I planned, wrote, shot, and edited it all by myself in a day and a half. I can’t tell you how long it has been since I’ve made a video (a) that fast, and, (b) entirely myself. Years… And I’m clearly rusty.
Anyways, expect quality to rebound back to a better spot over the coming weeks and video publishing frequency to return to once weekly. My new video producer starts Monday.
Well I was about to buy one!! But after your little report I think I'm going to change my mind. Even if I like the look I will not invest in this speaker that apparently does not keep its promises. but I find that it still happens regularly at Apple ... No, I'm the one wrong...
Steve Jobs was well known to have loved music (Bob Dylan and the Beatles were two faves) and high end Sony stereos back when Sony made good stereos. By 2006, I'd say he'd moved on to some really expensive HiFi - He admitted it in his talk. I have a hard time believing he gave all that up for an iPod HiFi. I'm sure he used it in the kitchen or by the pool, but as a main stereo replacement? I'm just not convinced.
I used one of these speakers in the office back in the day. It was perfect for what we bought it for and it was well worth the money. It preferred it to the alternatives from iHome, Bose etc. But a HiFi system it was not.
I had one of these in my car and it got stolen! So sad.
Ответить6 huge batteries completely wasted by no power off button 🫠 Apple commitment with the environment since 2006
ОтветитьLove the detail and clarity you place into each of your videos . Information presented with precision, care and just the right amount of humor.
Ответитьwere you listening to your music using alac apple lossless, that could make a huge difference
ОтветитьWe’ve add few of those and still after dozen of years still use them
ОтветитьPeople that buy Apple must be carful cults dont knock on ther door lol.
ОтветитьThat vacum really sucks no pun"😂
ОтветитьI bought a second hand Bose iPod dock today.
Totally worth it. Best $65 I've spent in a while.
I've no idea why they tanked in value, you can get Bluetooth adapters for them (which work on a lot of docks) and it has aux in.
It even has a battery, I can take it downstairs and just fill my living room with music with ease.
I genuinely miss Steve and his original vision for Apple.
ОтветитьD cell batteries , no power socket .Lasts 5hrs. It ends right there.
ОтветитьIt’s funny, I was in Jr. High when this released and I remember reading about it on CNET and really wanting one of these when it was released. I also remember around the same time being intrigued by the Zune’s really clean and smooth user interface. Microsoft absolutely NAILED crafting the perfect MP3 player right as Apple was about to embark on leaving the iPod behind forever with the iPhone 😂
However I totally forgot about this speaker until your video! I assumed it was good quality and to see them still out and about in the wild and in just 3 short more years, turning 20 is nuts to me man.
you're back and forth with liking the speaker not liking it. totally disagree, its a wonderful product. have 2 of them(bought a second one on ebay years ago as i was afraid if the first one went bad i could use second one for parts whatever), but great quality yes, was a tight sealed enclosure had tremendous power and bass but to encourage more high notes one simply needed to just adjust EQ through an app etc. discovered a bluetooth plug in for the 30 pin port when i bent the pins by accident so can now use it again with an iPhone bluetooth wise. its actually too powerful for my 500 sq foot apartment and neighbors complain( or did). yes $349 was too much and so it didn't sell high numbers but still a great product and was portable which was key.never liked that HomePod thing. they were reaching at r and d, plus it was a plug in. who wants that! today is about portability, that's why Bose does so well. have two Bose speakers as well which are superb. Hifi and HomePod failed apple sales but didn't fail consumers who know quality products
ОтветитьI'm a fanboy, but I like seeing reviews that don't pull punches. Thanks for not gushing.
ОтветитьAudiophiles wouldn't want one of these...
ОтветитьBro those stickers were cool.
ОтветитьSteve Jobs: highly skilled in hyping mediocre products or unveiling 'innovative' features that have existed in other similar products for years. This speaker probably served as a 'stick to what you know' moment for him and his marketing hacks.
Ответитьi have 1 new! I love it
ОтветитьHaha funnily enough, I'm listening to the audio of this video on one of those!
Ответитьanyone know what brand of speakers they used?
ОтветитьHomePod failed simple due to it not being a speaker that you could use... it was an Apple Music only device. didn't work with any device at all.. no BT, no Jake, and apple didn't even let you use it for the Mac as your speaker. that failed for a lot more reasons than it being 350
ОтветитьDo you think these would benefit from some tweeters and passive crossovers?
Ответитьsomeone lied to steve the speaker is sealed, there are literally two ports on the front
ОтветитьYou judged this speaker so much broo this speaker is amazing in all platforms
ОтветитьWho wants to buy this speaker on 2022 like me
ОтветитьI'm gonna be weird here, but you're very attractive.
ОтветитьI think it's an insane amount of money for what you get but I think that of all Apple products, I was reading the comments because I was seriously asking myself who would buy such a thing and spend an insane amount of money for it and to my surprise I see there are a lot of crazy people out there.
For 350 dollar I can find much better speakers, even if I would build them myself it would be way better than this thing but it wouldn't be able to connect any Apple Pods to it but it would connect to any other audio device that normal people use, just the fact that an iPod can't even play my mp3's like a normal player by simply copying and pasting it with my computer to the player just doesn't compute with me, why do people want to go through all the hassle of converting your mp3 files into something that the iPod can understand and play I don't get it.
Good thing that the iPod is becoming a thing of the past, should be happening with all Apple products.
Just bought one and going to collect it. The seller is missing the electric cord, what kind is it?
ОтветитьGreat vacuum cleaner advertisement. The kids lock is amazing, I'm getting so tired of my kids secretly vacuuming my home!
ОтветитьSo you paid $15 + $50 shipping XD
ОтветитьI actually have one of this. Still working in fact it is in mint condition!
It sounds good and it is enough to fill up my bedroom with sound.
is the captions rushed
ОтветитьI was wondering why he randomly started talking about a vacuum cleaner. I thought it was some kind of joke until I realized it’s an ad, so I skipped it.
ОтветитьI have a pair of home pods (purchased for $199 each) and I love them. I do not understand all the negative reviews (other than the full retail price). They sounds marginal as one speaker, but great in stereo. The best part is the sound quality is good everywhere in the room. Maybe I just appreciate that because it is not the case with my also beloved Martin Logans. I can see being disappointed with one speaker for $349, but I would call a pair at $400 one of my best purchases. Good video though. I didn't remember this speaker.
ОтветитьI love how honest Steve Jobs was. Everything good or bad, he said to the audience.
ОтветитьHomepod “studio”… interesting choice of words… 😏
ОтветитьYou need to test the Soundboks 3... (^_^)
A buddy of mine had one of those apple speakers in his apartment. Frankly, for ambient music in that space it was fine. The thing I didn't like was the size sitting on his shelf. There were (and are) better systems that put small speakers on the shelf and a sub down on the floor that both look and sound better.
Ahhh yes, i remember the Apple Hifi, that thing really had some kick to it man!
ОтветитьNot buying that vacuum
ОтветитьI'd be curious to get two of these and set them up in a proper stereo configuration and see how they sound.
ОтветитьIf they added tweeters and an equalizer like the aiwa exos 9 it would’ve probably been better. I have the exos 9 and that thing sounds pretty impressive.
ОтветитьApple 🤮 🤢 🤮 🤢
ОтветитьI have a jbl charge 5
ОтветитьSo is this basically a beats boom box but remade into a Apple shell
ОтветитьThey honestly don't need an official successor or solution; rather simply, Sonos exists and so does their lucrative beats partnership, airpods and "just good enough" home pod mini.
ОтветитьI see if you put a child lock on it the child will say I must defeat that child lock so I can use the vacuum.
ОтветитьHmmm, your're homepod video has been as popular as the homepod itself. Interesting, it just never created any buzz
Ответить
